Comments: My dad served on the USS Brush when it was hit in Wonsan Harbor. I have written a profile paper on him for an English class. Apparently, a gun mount was hit and the gunners mate lost his leg. I have pictures of the damage to the ship and pictures of the wounded being transported to the USS St. Paul. If anyone remembers my dad and that particular incident, please let me know. His name is Spencer M. Lunt from Honolulu, HI. He is 77 years old now and in pretty good health.

I have not seen nor heard from these two close friends and shipmates since I was a teenager aboard the BRUSH.I am now 75 and very thankfull. We will see each other this year. I'm still looking for any one that remembers us along with the September,1950 mine explosion. I was caught under a double five inch blast while kicking off spent brass that caused hearing loss. He is not in the best of health anymore, but is still kickin' it.
He remembers many of his experiences on that ship. He was in WW2 and was called back to the "police action" in Korea.
He has a tag on his car "USS Brush dd 745". That's how I found this site. [on Google]

Comments: My dad, Donald F. Quigley (deceased), was the skipper of the Brush during Korea although I don't know the exact dates. I do have a memory of his being in that position around the time of the mine hit and also at Wonsan.
As a young lad of 5-6 years old, I also remember making a run with him from San Francisco to Long Beach (I think) and getting my first taste of sea sickness as we powered out of San Francisco and passed under the Golden Gate into rougher water.
I would appreciate hearing of any anecdotes any of his old shipmates might be willing to share.
