Comments: Please email me if you have any information on the Army Corps of Engineers who were fighting Engineers. My Dad did that in Korea. He never mentioned much about that war. I understand. Iraq wasn't much fun either. He helped me out the best because he'd been across that bridge in Korea.
My Dad's name was Larry Leatham. He always talked about his ride home on a troop transport where my Uncle served.
My Uncle went through three wars and three marriages. He said that was more than enough hell for any one man to go through.

I have a photo album with lots of photos of Air Force pilots and other medical

pilots from the 334th 335th, 336th, and 4th squadrons. There also are photos of the
Kimpo base, Korean citizens and Seoul.

Comments: To whom it may concern,
My Dad enlisted in the United states Marine Corp 1951 after being a radio operator in the United states coast guard during WWII.
Don't know much about his service and keep looking to see what I can find. Enlisted as a private in Marines after being a radio man and was in the Marines till about November 1952.
He was a private, a PFC, a Corporal, and when Honorably discharged was a sergeant. He then reinlisted in the Coastguard. Trying to find out what I can. His conduct was a 4.8 to 5.0 which I think is very good. His name was Richard William McClendon known as Mac. He retired from the coast guard in 1964 a A Chief radio officer. Can you help me with this? He passed away 2003, my mom in 2017.Most sincere thanks

I am interested in learning anything I can about the circumstances surrounding his injuries (he was wounded when a mortal shell exploded behind him as his unit attempted to capture a hill; he had 11 pieces of shrapnel in his back). I have always wonder about the specific circumstances of his injury and any of his buddies who might have been with him at the time. Dad died in 2017.

Comments: My Dad Emmett Shelton, was a Reservist from Austin in 1950 at the beginning of the Korean War. He was evacuated shortly after Chosin. In 1986, he started a newsletter "The Guidon" to reconnect by collecting stories and pictures from his B-1-5 Baker Bandits. He tracked them down from unit diaries. He had stories from Company officers, Generals, platoon leaders and the average marine. He transcribed WIA and KIA lists for each battle from the Unit Diaries. "The Guidon" had a contributing readership of 350 at the peak and they held annual Reunions across the country.
Emmett published the "The Guidon" monthly from 1986 to 2005. Like most of his brothers, he died in 2015. I always admired his work and I find the message of a lifelong brotherhood so strong - the stories so vivid - many Marines did not know the 'why' and the strategy - they didn't ask, they just knew they had to make it out with their brothers.
I am currently working with Casemate Publishers to publish Emmett's book - hopefully Fall 2020. I relied heavily on the Korean War Project to verify the information on WIA was still accurate. It is a wonderful resource - Thank You.
Wonder how I could use the Project to connect with Vets or Family who might be interested?

My dad always told stories about his experience in Korea when I was young. But as he got older he never mentioned them. He's been unable to speak for the last 5 or 6 years due to several strokes. Now I wish I had more information.

But I recently moved to the DC area and saw the Korean War Memorial. And I have to say, it was emotional for me be cause it reminded me of his stories of how cold and wet it was while he was there.

I'm an adopted Korean orphan born in Ahnyong, and raised in a orphanage in Inchon, came to the states (MN) in '71 at the age of 7 yrs. old. I had a horrible upbringing, but the Lord brought me thru the hard storms and I thank Him for that.
