Comments: Came aboard the Mighty K Jan 1970 in Newport RI. We went through the
Panama Canal while changing Home Port to Pearl Harbor Hawaii, We made
2 WestPac cruises before taking the ship to Turkey and decommissioning her there in July 1972.
Anybody interested in our reunions please contact me. We've lost a great many of our
shipmates over the years and it's good to get together and share old times.

Comments: Joined the crew in Newport, R.I. and rode the ship to Pearl Harbor, HI. Went on a Westpac and was part of the skeleton crew that sailed the KEPPLER to Izmir, Turkey where we turned over the ship to the Turkish Navy in June 1972.

Comments: I would like any stories or memories that any of you
have of my father, Mario Paolotto, who served on the
Keppler from 1952-1954. I am his youngest daughter
Shari and am organizing a military sendoff for him as
there was no military ceremony done when he passed
away 15years ago and I have only just gotten a flag
in his honor. Any info about the missions or memories
for the service on May 20th would be greatly
appreciated! It is a surprize for my mother.
Afterwards, his ashes will be taken to a naval vessel
for a burial at sea.

Comments: we stayed in korean waters thru winter we transfered mail and supplys on xmas day to other ships in div. we finally came home in april after stopping in pearl harbor for a few days then on thru panama canal again to complete our around the world trip any info on her after june 1952 helpful thanks ray so2

Comments: I have the greatest admiration for the US Navy in their concern for the lives of every person in harms way. I think of the hours we searched in hostle waters off Korea trying to locate airman from a downed aircraft. The Keppler was dead in the water with all engines and machinery stopped. Each shipmate was on deck with his hands cupped behind his ears to listen for a human cry in distress. It never came. After 10-12 hrs we rejoined the Task Force.

Keywords: On Formosa Straits Patrol; Operated with Task Force 77 east coast of Korea; escorted USS Missouri into Hungnam Harbor for sonar patrol while she shore bombarded during evacuation of land forces. Pilot recovery efforts-lost a few...
