Comments: I have The Original ships plaque from USS Hawkins-Destroyer. Commissioned during the end of World War II. Involved in Korean war, Vietnam and Cuba missile Crisis. If anyone is interested. Would love it to go to someone involved with this ship.

Comments: I am looking for information about why my great grandfather would have a set of blueprints to the DD 873.I never knew him but the house he built he hide the blueprints in the attic with two letters from two of his friends.I don't know why but I am interested in finding out why.I looked at up his friend's name and he is deceased now since 1991 and the one who posted the info has apparently moved since then because the address that was left is no good.Anybody with anything PLEASE contact me.Maybe tell me how things worked back then or how he got the blueprints.My Great grandfather's name was Tommie H. Comments: My dear friend Clifton Russell was stationed aboard the Hawkins beginning Dec 1944 when it was all shiny and new! He was there when she was commissioned. Seems a captain went overboard at one time. He's 81 now. His nickname was "Two Bottles" because he couldn't hold his beer. Does anyone remember him? Does anyone know anything about the ship during the first years in her commission? Thanks!

Also a replenishment ship, #62, cruiser and another DD in photo waiting their turn alongside. Let me know if you'd like this photo e-mailed to you, part of the USS Kearsarge's Task Force 77 deployment to the Far East as the Korean Conflict was ending.
