Comments: We all know about the great heroics at Wolmi - Do Island in the
Inchon Operation in 1950, by the "Sitting Ducks" U.S. Destroyers. But, most do not know about "Operation War
Dance." When the USS Kidd -DD-661, the PIRATE OF THE
PACIFIC, in December 1952, commanded by Commander Charles Arthur Bellis,USN, was ordered to cruise at ten knots,
sailing around Wonsan (North Korea) Harbor, acting as bait,
in order to draw gun fire from the Communist gun batteries
hidden ashore on the islands. When an enemy batterie fired,
the KIDD identified the source and returned fire. The KIDD
silenced several enemy gun batteries. MISSION
ACCOMPLISHED.

Comments: Hello,
My dad was aboard the Kidd when she was hit in
1945. His name was Ed Rynes. He may have been known
as Ryno, or Eddie. He survived the attack, he was
wounded and discharged, and he passed away in 1984. I
was wondering if anyony has any photos that were
taken aboard the Kidd during the 1944 to 1945 time
span. Id like to see if my dad is in any of them.
Does anyone remember my dad; Ed Rynes?
Many thanks,,
God Bless,,
