A big Swede . He forgot to take down a wire he used to dry his hats
The Chief came down the stairs, hungover wire caught him under the chin and flipped him over. He never found out.

died in IRVINE Estill county 1978 buried in
CAMP NELSON,KY
i learned about my dad too late.
he was dead by the time i learned his whereabouts.
now i have death cert /my birth cer ,and that he was a navy veteran.
he was hit in the head with a baseball bat and never recovered from injury.im told.
i dont know if there are any survivors.
i do know no one attended his funeral.
he lived at 135 1/2 plum st irvine,ky in care of pearl tipton.
this was on death cert.
how can i locate a picture of my father from the navy?
ive never seen him,i never sa a picture of him.
i dont know what to do to locate information like this.
ive contacted everyone i know about .
the tipton lady deceased now too.
all i want is to find pictures of my dad.
can anyone helpo.
i have no knowledge further ,except he had a brother's [jack,jessie,virgil CLARK]
and sister gertrude clark fields.
she is deceased.

Comments: I am very interested in this country of ours, the things that have happened all through the years, the people involved here that built it into what it is today and the wars, the men who went to keep those like myself free, for which I am so grateful.

Keywords: My brother Harry McGowan served in WW11. He was in the Pacific fighting the Japs, he also went into the Philippines, was captured, came home safe, thank the LORD. Also, the Japs bombed the ship he was on and his best buddy was killed.

Comments: To those who served on the USS McGowan and their families.......My father, Donald McGowan, recently passed away....For many years, his hobby was building museum quality models...One of his best WWII/Korea era models is a model of the USS McGowan..(many of his works were of the tall ship variety)...However, in settling his estate,I am offering for sale the USS McGowan....It is approx. 48 inches long,is enclosed in a glass case and is of the finest quality....It is my opinion that he buit the model from scratch(not from a kit)..making it a unique model....this would be an excellent momento for a family member to present to a former crew member...the price is $2750.00......It is a beautiful model and should over a period of time only become more valuable...I have photos availble...
