Comments: Aloha USS Anderson sailors! It's an honor to find this page. My father is Albert Pauole from Honolulu, Hawaii. He did serve in 1951-1953 Korean War on the USS Anderson. I have many pictures of him with other sailors; can't see the writing on the picture; it's faded but the pictures are still nice. My dad died Sept. 1985 of cancer. He loved his tour during that time. He spoke little of it, but by example he showed his daughters (3) how to serve others. Mahalo & Aloha,

Comments: My father spoke of a mountain when they got to Korea that they had to go up the mountain and body-bag persons who were on a flight that ran into the side of the mountain due to oversized/weight on plane.
Daddy said he would never ever forget the noises the bodies made when they carried them down the mountain (whoosh) and burps and gas and many other body function noises. [June 24, 1950 for two years he served in Korea]
On New Year's Eve 1950 dad was sparring around with others and hit his fist, sprang the hand and was out of service for a few days.

Comments: Stay in dicky b for almost 2yrs, and we were like just a family on board ship. The vietnam action is big memory for me,especially those un-reps,working party, all hands carrying ammo by hands side by side and the stay to tonkin gulf for almost 60 days on patrol also shore bombardment its amazing we just load ammo and all of sudden is gone we have to get some more ammo, fuel, food and etc. Its a wonderful experienced for a kid like me during those time and the responsibility that I've learned on board ship which I have taken in my civilian life to be dependable and reliable thanks God I survive and go on with my life..
Keywords: Iam looking for cesar gonzales and the rest of the filipino crew on board the dicky b its a great ship and learned a lot about teamwork. We're all separated during decommissioning in the 70s.He's great in karate demonstration in ship whenever there's some bbq party at the fantail.
