Comments: How come there's no mention of the shelling of the Hydro-
electric plants on the Yalu River? Also the fact that the
USS Barton DD 722 after taking our position hit a mine?
The Strong patrolled both coasts of Korea and shelled
both coasts. Just asking.

Comments: I'm the daughter of Claramon and wonder if anyone else is out there that served with him? I know he was at the Yalu River in North Korea in June '52.
And he lived in Charleston NC, and Norfolk VA with my mother Janet.
I'd like to be in contact with anyone that could tell me more about his Navy days other than the photos I have.

Comments: I cut and pasted the following from the Naval Historical website as follows:
1952
27 - 28 July
USS Strong (DD 758) received 12 rounds of estimated 105 mm or 120 mm enemy counterbattery fire with no damage or casualties reported.
28 July
USS Strong (DD 758), at Cho-do, bombarded 150 troops utilizing a naval gunfire support team. In the Sok-to area, Strong fired at enemy batteries and enemy returned fire at range 13,600 yards with 4 fairly accurate salvos of 3 guns each. Batteries estimated to be 105 mm or 120 mm. No damage to Strong.
22 August
USS Strong (DD 758) was fired on by an estimated 122 mm gun located on the western shore of the Haeju approaches. Enemy fired 12 rounds, but caused no damage.
February 28, 1959
USS Strong rescues 13 Arab fishermen from Bahrain when their fishing boats floundered in a storm.
