Comments: I want to say hello to all my buddies of C/1/32, who I served with on the DMZ in Spring and Summer of '68. A prayer for our KIA (5 in the battalion) and WIA. Special memories of my "brothers": Larry, Scottie, Malk, Dave, and Richard(with the souped up jeep), Lt. Rob, and all the rest. We had fun in the "ville" and on training maneuvers; but we were all business on the zone. As one who has walked a similar path, I pray for the safety of our troops in Iraq

Comments: Was feeling nostalgic about my time in Korea (11/66 to 10/67) and I found this web site. Havent found any of my buddies but it has been fun reading some of the comments. I was in Camp Casey, Company C, 1St Bn, 31St Inf, 7Th Div. Served with some great guys (McCormick, Huddleston, McKenzie, Perry, Dixon, Deleston, Garner, Andrews-sorry guys cant remember you all) and only have wonderful memories. It may have been to cold or to hot and we may have humped to many of those hills but all and all I wouldnt change a thing. Well, maybe one. In hindsight, I wish that I had realized how wonderful it was being 21 and enjoyed the experience. We worked hard (at times) but when we went into Tongduchon we sure knew how to have a great time. Would be nice to reminisce with old buddies from Charlie company.

most of that time in the orderly room excepting a short stint in the guard towers - and
I agree they were COLD!
It's been 40 years since stationed there and I still can't say those years were good
years, but I do have good memories of some of the friends that I made, and of course I
loved the German beer, weiner schnitzle, etc, etc.
I saw Ed Cheek's post and sent him an email so if anyone recognizes my name I would
enjoy hearing from you.

Comments: I was stationed with Company B Ascom Depot in Bupyong, from Dec 1968 to Feb 1970. I worked for the Supply and Transportation Div. where we shipped supplies all over Korea and the far east. We would also take supplies by convoy to the DMZ area and to southern Korea, Some of these convoys were by trucks and others were by train.
I remember several times shipping out Barrels of What I believe now to be Agent Orange to the DMZ areas. There were times some of these barrels had leaks from being hit by the forks of Forklifts while loading them onto trailers and trucks.
I too have several health problems and have been denied by the VA. I served in Viet Nam after leaving Korea 1970. In April of 1970 I went to Viet Nam.
Would like to hear from anyone that served at Ascom Depot Company B during the dates I listed.
I have a Year Book that was published in Dec. 1969 with pictures of several others and their units within Company B.

2nd tour was with the 7th Inf DIVARTY at Camp McDonald Barracks just south of RC#1. Staff Chemical Officer for DIVARTY Commander, Col Bates. Just a young Lt. learning the ropes. Traveled to all the 7th Division artillery units up north closer to the DMZ. We were all located in 2nd ID area in support.

Comments: I served in C co, 1st bn 5th Cav--Black Knights. At first I was the radio repairman and radio operator-"RTO". I eventually made E-5 and was put in charge of the communication section and became the CO's operator. I remember the Prc 6 and the Prc 10 well along with the hated EE8 telephone. Now that I think back the other two weren't too well liked either. Just think what improvements we've made in electronics. Our telephones are so much smaller than even the Prc 6 it would be a breeze humping a hill with the radio and a spare battery now.
I have lots of good memories of being in the army and of Korea. I don't miss the army one bit but I came to respect the hard working Korean.I even developed a taste for Kimchee and have cultivated that interest for my family too. My wife and I like to hit the Korean area of San Diego for a meal of Bulgogi or Kimchee chigae, which is a thick "HOT" soup made with kimchee of course.
I had lots of pictures of my time spent in Korea but lost them in 2003 to a house fire. I can't remember the camp name or the town closest to it. I believe it was Camp Custer and the town was either Yongju gol or Paju ri and Charlie block wasn't far off.
