Comments: Hello engineers:
I was sent to Camp Essayons, C company in Jan 1962 as a 050.0 low speed radio operator.
Since my mos was not needed there, i became a floater, working where needed. When SSGT
Ware rotated back to the U.S. without a replacement, i took over his duties as
operations NCO. Later i became the driver for the company commander, driving him to
Camp Stanley, Camp Red Cloud, and out to the road projects, like smuggler gap road. Our
company built up most of the roads around Uijongbu with de-composed granite and raised
them in some places over nine feet for grade. Our company also built many bridges and
culverts and fords. Remember Camp Essayons fondly.

I have some pictures of the area including Chang Pa Ri, Libby Bridge, buddies, etc. The names I remember are PFC Joy, Bryant, Holland, Larry Hill and a Sgt. Byrum. I would like to put names to some of the other troops that are in the pictures. I was at Camp Young from Jan. 1961-April 1962. I spent most of my time in the FDC section of the mortar platoon.

Bill died and the causes of death were compared to other vets that had confirmed agent orange exposure. No one in his family had any of these conditions. According to what I have read, the government has only admitted to using agent orange from April 1, 1968 - 1971. Is it possible to really get our government to admit use prior to these dates? The VA has denied claim, and I have 1 year to appeal.

Comments: To Curtis Carter
After waiting 3 years to get my rejection on dioxin poising from the 2nd Infantry chemical Company located at Camp Howze in 1968. See Steve Witter letters. He even had to challenge the VA to get his benifits. HE ACTUALLY MIXED AGENT ORANGE WITH DIESAL FUEL! He sprayed camp Howze. They emptied there poisonous brew about 50 yards above my hooch.of course we all exposed to benzine. Remember getting our diesel stoves in our hooches cherry red hot because it got so cold?? Everything was covered in diesel fuel, including us. A big diesel soaked spot under the 5 gallon can. I'm trying to get everyone fighting the VA to grow a beard. I think our country would be shocked if all of us fighting the VA GREW A BEARD!
I've since hired an attorney submitted 2 more doctor letters. It's been a year since I appealed. I think the VA is still working on claims from the Little Big Horne. I can't believe that the VA has become the veterans enemy. How did it happen?? Hmm maybe starting 2 wars and cutting taxes had something to do with it. Grow a beard!!! Lars

Comments: So this is what our brothers get for their service. It was not enough that DMZ Vets were not told of exposure to Agent Orange until forty two years after the fact. How many of our brothers died due to this exposure, and never knew? Now there is this scandal of kickbacks and promotions to VA employees to let our brothers die. This is criminal, this must be dealt with by another cabinet other than the VA. The Secretary of the VA must resign and be held accountable for his actions. There are VA employees receiving kick backs and promotions in order to bog down the system while our brothers die. My God ,what else is lurking out there? This is the tip of the iceberg. The claims for disability are being denied so some one can receive a promotion or bonus?? It is no wonder why it takes so long to adjudicate a disability claim, employees are being paid to hope another brother dies before the VA has to pay out what they are entitled to. CRIMINAL,CRIMINAL CRIMINAL. WHAT IS NEXT. GOOD LUCK BROTHERS.

Instead I took powerful medicine until June 2013 when the medication no longer worked and I had to get a stem cell transplant. In Nov. 2010 I filed a claim. In May 2013 it was denied, only took 2 & 1/2 years to say not associated with military service. The 2nd. Inf. Division Chemical Company was 50 yards above me at Camp Howze in 1968. They sprayed Camp Howze and many others also. Look up letters from Steve Witter. They emptied there tanks on roads, in streams and at the top of camp Howze. My doctors say it wasn't so much agent orange but benzene from diesel oil it was mixed with and of course to heat our hooches that more likely than not caused my disease. I find it very interesting that the 2nd. Inf. Div. Chemical Company, the ones that sprayed much of Agent Orange mixed with diesel are NOT on the presumptive unit list!! WTF. I'm now appealing.

Comments: If your fighting the VA for benefits grow a beard! Let the world know how many of us there are. Let the VA know how bad and slow they are doing! General ishinski says the VA IS DOING GREAT. Let him know that the opposite is true. His head is in the clouds. Although congress is not capable of doing anything, they need to know also. GROW A BEARD!

Sprayed and betrayed

Comments: I am looking for anyone who served in Korea in 1962-63 era that remembers a unit nicknamed Ghost Walkers. We worked from Seoul to the 38th including the tidal flats and my unit was a night unit. There was another unit just like mine who worked during the daytime. We were the unit who found the ambushers of Charlie Company 1/9th in November of 1962. I need to prove that the unit existed to get my VA disability thru. We were what some have called a Hunter-Killer squad if that helps any.
