Comments: I joined the Bn as an Avionics tech. L19, L20, H13, H23, TDC was a hoot! As Tom
Minerva we left the Bn and were reassigned to the 155th Avn Co (AML) Camp Stanley.
When we got to RVN via WWII a/c carrier up the Saigon river to the Harbor of Saigon we
convoyed to the University of Saigon where the Co. was split up and redesignated A Co.
1st Avn Bn 1st ID. We took all the UH-1 that were in country (ROK) minus the CG of
course. Mr. Minerva if you know? Did Mr. Greenwahl ever teach his wife to fly that B
model?

practical jokes. There was a sfc who loaned a ROK Captain 350 gallons of avn gas
115/145. It turned out the so called ROK Captain was an imposter or better known as a
SLICKIE BOY. What a ditz. Also there was a man named Mosenna, I knew his family from
my church in the states. The most memorable thing was sitting through the commanders
in brief after just receiving 8.5cc of gamma goblin in my 4th point of contact. Life is
good.

Comments: I am returning here to post another note hoping to get in touch with others I have known during my 3 tours to Korea. I started out Jan. 63 with A company 2/40th Armor at Camp Beavers, then my company was moved to the 1st CALVARY Division and up on the DMZ to be the only tank company on the DMZ. I returned to the states in Jan. 64, to Fort Knox Ky. I returned again and was in C Troop 4/7 CALVARY 2nd Infantry Division, at Camp Rice which was changed to Camp GARRY OWEN while I was there. I returned again in July 76 to Camp Casey and was in C company 1/72 Armor. During the rest of my career, I was assigned to Fort Riley Ks., Fort Knox, Ky, Fort Wainwright Alaska, Fort Richardson Alaska, 2/66 Armor at Clay Kaserne in Olster Holtz Germany, and Mike company 11th ACR in Badhersfeld Germany. I retired 1 January 87 and returned to N.C. remarried and settled down in Kings Mountain N.C. I started my career on the DMZ in Korea and wrapped it up on the West/East German border, both a divider of FREEDOM. Being retired now from the army for 28 years, and health not as good looking at 70 in the eye, I have been having the feeling of being lost as a civilian with no real purpose in life. At least in my 24 1/2 years in the army I had a purpose every day and a reason to feel needed. I know there are a lot of others out there just like me but I am just putting it out there how I feel and tired of holding it back. In a way I guess this old tanker will take his last ride not on a tank, but in the back of a, well, you know. I pray all that reads this will understand how I feel and not take me as an old soldier lost in life. Anyway, I hope all that reads this has a meaningful life and always will. Till that day, take care and I salute all of you past, present and future soldiers.

My husband is Michael Scafuto, was in Korea 1969-1970 8th Army/mos 76y20Supply/7thInfantryDiv./ I have some photos of him and a good buddy and I think his name is either Dave Rogers or Hodges or Hudgens. I need proof that Michael went frequently back and forth to the dmz areas for different reasons as told by him in many of his stories. Michael passed away in April 2013 at only 63 yrs old from years of battling kidney/lympnoid/lung cancers/type 2 diabetes and in the earlier years after coming home skin disorders with we believe was that chloracne. he began his claim in 2008 and he made me promise to continue his fight until i cannot fight anymore, so here i am. i want to thank everyone on this site who is going through the same thing as us for serving our country. 11/2/1966 - 11/15/1967. Spent the last 2 weeks at Camp Blue Lancer Valley south
of the River.
I have been approved for care and compensation related to exposure to AO. I left
Korea 11/22/1967 which is prior to the VA presumptive date start 4/1/1968. SO,
yes you can get approved out side of their presumptive dates!!! Do not ever give
up!!!!
I am willing to provide a lot of documentaion that may be helpful in your AO

no shoulder patches nor carried any Id Cards or wore no dog tags. I would
especially like to talk to anyone who was stationed on the main gate at ASCOM City
in July of 1963. Ghost Walkers may have been the predicessors to the Imjin scouts
and I know they were operating under that name in Korea for at least 10 years.
None of these brave men can get benefits because someone is sitting on their
records and is refusing to release them to the VA and yes the VA has ask numerous
times. I am in search of anyone who knows anything about this unit so that my
husband can get his claims approved.

Comments: In 1962 the University of Korea Seoul did a study to see what herbicides would kill
the vegetation along the DMZ. The test plots were under Freedom Bridge and I have
a picture of the results of one of the test plots but it is VERY important that we
find a copy of the test results to prove that toxic herbicides were used earlier
than 1968. Does anyone have Korean connections that can find a copy of that report
for those of us who are pushing to get the presumptive date back to the early 60's.

Comments: July 1, 2015 marks the 50th Anniversary of the 2IDs return to Korea after the cease fire in the Korean War. The 2ID played a major role in the Korean War and it was appropriate that the Division return to continue to play a major role in guarding Freedoms Frontier.
On that day in July, the 1st Cavalry Division was reflagged as the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Howze which was Division HQ at the time. The 2nd Indianhead Division Association is organizing a return trip for 2IDA members that were present at the reflagging and for other DMZ veterans that would like to go. We anticipate a group of about 25-30 and are still working out the details. We are working on the eligibility for participation. We are beginning a major fundraising effort to help offset the cost of the trip for the returning veterans and need to know the level of interest in this trip. The tentative plan is to depart Los Angeles about June 26 or 27, 2015 to return about July 3. You will need a current passport. If you are interested, please let us know via the Send E-mail foo. Your e-mail is not a commitment, but merely an expression of interest. The leadership of the active 2ID has generously agreed to help with planning the celebration events and perhaps some tours of the area. Comments: My husband was a member of a special ops unit that was stationed just outside Camp Yong in 1963 and we would like to hear from anybody else besides Tom Rosenberger that remembers tthose guys who were camped just outside your camp that wore no insignia on their uniforms and went to chow at different times than you did. These guys would be the guys you were told not to associate with. I would like to hear from anyone who knows about the jeep that went out to take an officer to the DMZ for an inspection and broke down about 5 miles from camp and was stripped by the ROK's before the wrecker and mechanic could get back.

Comments: I was just curious if anyone, that might have known me, might contact me to discuss old times. From Jan. to Jun. 1960, I was the Supply Clerk for 19th Artillery. When the 21st Artillery was created in Jun. 1960, I was transferred there, becoming the Battalion Clerk, until I left in Jan 1961. While in the 21st artillery, many of us signed up for a yearbook that was promoted to all of us there, however I never received mine, and would love to have a copy if anyone received theirs, which might have information on someone to contact.

Comments: Need help establishing local for 2/8 Arty 7Inf Div in 1969 and 1970 until we had to turn over our post to the ROK army in 1970 and move our unit back south to Camp Casey. I was a Redeye Missle Gunner in S2 for my unit. My best friend was Guy Lester from Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico, he was a lineman. VA having difficulty placing this units where abouts and will not approve my Agent Orange claim at this time. Seeking anyone who served with this unit during this time frame. Trying to find our camps name I served at about 45 mins north of Camp Casey.

Comments: I served in Korea from Nov 1968- Dec 1969 , at the 1/15 art. Camp Sumerall , near camp Pellham and RC #1.
Trying to contact any of the guys who were there at that time. I have filed with the VA for agent orange compensation , denied several years ago, re applied last week.i have all the classic symptoms , prostate cancer at age 42 diabetes at 35 restless leg syndrome Parkinson's related.

Anyone rember that ! I drove ours from our camp to RC2 about 10-12 miles the KOREANS had never seen anything like that, you would have tought it was the Indy 500.
