duty was an experience of high frustration, constant anxiety, and a period of
maturity. The winter of 1962 & 1963 brought the coldest weather I had ever
experienced. When having I nice Quonset hut to sleep in, the snow blew in to get
warm. Them Damn Quinine pills seam to add to the misery at times and
walking/running in the snow to the shower/latrine a quarter mile away well, it was
a challenge.
Well I guess it wasn't all that bad. Enlisted in the Army in early 1959 and here
now in 2015 I am still wearing a military uniform. The Coast Guard is in deed
fighting a battle of keeping what was fought for safe in the land that we all
served to make descent. Proud to still be in uniform and as the Coast Guard Motto

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF AGENT ORANGE BEING USED PRIOR TO 1967? I WOULD GREATLY LIKE TO USE THAT INFO TO HELP BUILD A CASE TO FILE A CLAIM WITH THE ARMY.

Comments: Possible Proof of Agent Orange Exposure, DMZ Korea, 1969,
Today I found all of my memorabilia from my graduation from the Advanced Combat Training Academy, ACTA on the DMZ in Korea in 1969. This was the Graduation Class of 12-69 dated July 1969. I found my Graduation Program giving 51 full names and ranks of graduates, full names and ranks of 10 Honor Graduates, full names and ranks of all of the ACTA Staff and instructors, full names and ranks of 12 Past Honor Graduates in 1969, and 11 Commanding General's Award Winners. I also have the graduation photo clearly documenting all 51 graduates.
I know that so many of you out there are looking for proof of your loved ones being on the DMZ while in service. I have received many emails from servicemen looking for proof as well. So if you were in the Army in July of 1969, stationed on the DMZ, or sent to ACTA Training from south of the DMZ this might be the proof you are looking for.
I will be more than happy to send all of my documents via email and be willing to write a Buddy Letter if your name is in the Graduation Program. I can also give you some tips on how I was able to get my type II Diabetes as an Agent Orange Service Connected disability. I wish you all well and wish you luck in your search for proof of Agent Orange exposure for you and your love ones.

Subject: DMZ 1960 to 1969
I was assigned to A co 1/32 during this period. When we were on the DMZ I was Company XO ( 1 LT). While we had many fire fights on the fence at night and on the outposts. There are no any official action reports that I am aware of beyond the November 1969 ambush of the supply truck on the way to the outpost where four 1/32 GI's were killed.
I was there and can confirm LT Wallace recall of the event that night.
Just prior to that ambush we had one night where we believed we had killed a NK just beyond the fence. We wanted to go out and check and retrieve the body if possible. we were refused permission to cross the fence at night even though we had ambush patrols in the DMZ that night and every night. The next morning I insisted on trying to file an official action report since the fire fight had been particularly intense and long lasting. The company CO , CPT Vern Metzger, and I went to 1/32 battalion HQ to file the report. The battalion commander refused permission to file a report. His comments were: do you have a body? and were and GI's killed or wounded. When we said no. He said we had no action, no incident, and there would be no report.
The ambush happened about a week later, again I was not allowed to make any report or tie the two incidents together. I have always believed the ambush was direct retribution for the fire fight we had that night.

Comments: If you served in the Republic of South Korea during the period September 1, 1967 through March 31, 1968 then you need to do yourself a service and prepare a statement addressing your medical conditions relating to Agent Orange. This is not a buddy letter but instead a statement for our Secretary Robert A. McDonald to use on our behalf.
I sent an email to him expressing my personal concerns and was pleasantly pleased to have action taken on my behalf. In fact, I received a personal call from my regional office and the gentleman listened. He suggested we prepare individually our own personal health statements for the Secretary.
Email yours, as I will mine, to: Robert.A.McDonald@va.gov
Do it now!

Comments: This is for Anyone missing Anything that would get your claim approved whether it's your 201 files including your medical and dental files or the report of something that happened when you were there I need to hear from you. I am gathering evidence to show congress that there are thousands of Korea records missing and I need to have people come forward with what they need, where they've written and the response you got to forward to Senator Jeff Merkley's office. If I get enough we can get a congressional hearing into what 8th Army did with the records.

Comments: I'd like to make contact with any Vets who served in A-7-5 or C-7-5, 1962-1964.
I attended HAWK Missile & Launcher Maintenance Course (MOS 227) at Ft Bliss, 1961-1962. Advanced trained with A Btry, 7th Msl Bn (Hawk), 5th Arty at Ft Bliss, with orders to go to Korea in 1962. We were to be the first unit on the new site. While getting our equipment ready on the POM Line, I was reassigned to the 8th Msl Bn (HAWK), 7th Arty, to repeat the same advanced training to go to Ft Meade, MD.
Spent seven months at Ft Meade. Never saw a HAWK Missile. Then I received orders to go to Korea again. This time I was placed in C Btry, 7th Msl Bn (HAWK), 5th Arty.
Went over on the USNS Mann. Promoted to Spec 5 one month after arrival.
The site was entering its second year. I was glad I did not go the first time - too much to prep for. This was July 1963 to Aug 1964. I returned on the USNS Breckinridge. I was on the ship when the Gulf of Tonkin Incident occurred - the beginning of the Vietnam War. I was discharged Sep 10, 1964.
After visiting the other three batteries, I think C Battery had the best arranged site - both the Admin area and the TAC site.
I have 500 photos/slides I took while there. I am planning to post them on a website.

Comments: If you are missing your records or you can't get copies of documentation necessary to get a disability claim approved I need to hear from you. I have to get enough documentation together and get it to my Senator Merkley to get him to convene a Congressional hearing into what's going on with Korea records. My gut tells me that 8th Army is playing games with them but we've to prove it so I need your responses ASAP
