Comments: I am looking for information on Lt. Nachman.
He is listed as KIA and attached to the 99th Art
Bn. I have a 1Sgt from the 17th FA Bn who
thinks that Nachman was with the 17th FA. He
has a 1950 Fort Sill Yearbook with Lt. Irwin
Nachman pictured with C Battery 17th Bn. The
Lt. was a forward observer and possibly
spotting for more than one unit at the time of
his death. I am interested as we would like to
list Lt. Nachman in our KIA memorial page.
I would like to contact any Korean vet from the
99th who might remember the incident on
Jan. 26th, 1951. The 17th was an 8" unit
supporting the Cav at the time.

Comments: I am trying to help my father find old friends. His memory is not what it once was and he is not in the best health and he sure does not know anyting about computers so I have volunteerd. He was born in 1933 in Tallahaina Ok and originally entered the army in 1948. He spent almost two years with the 14th regimental combat team stationed in or around Ft Carson Colorado with the 10th Mtn. Division. He entered Korea at inchon in early Jan 1951 and was assigned to the 99th field artillery and the spirit battery (forgive my lack of military terminolgy and my dads fuzzy memory) He went home in December 1951. He was an infantry cadre with almost two years of infantry training as a ski trooper. He ended up in the artillery on a radio because he had a fair amount of knowledge of radios. I guess this is how the service works? I guess he did okay. My dad would have been about 5'11'' tall and about 185lbs with black curly hair. I am also certain that he was probably as ornery, and cantankerous then as he is now. I guess this is where I get my orneryness from, I came by it honestly!! If some one can help me that knew him or knew of him please contact me at my email and I will see dad gets in touch or at least gets the information. I even think he would attend a reunion! This surprised me bacause he doesnt go to too many of anyting like this at all. Anyway, hope to hear from someone. Thanks

Comments: Was with the hq battery in the wire section (o641)
from sept 49' till we rotated from korea in july 18th of 1951 back to the states.
Cpl. Kenneth Jackson who was killed was our section leader on the switchboard. Our call was "Spirit Operator". Cpl.Richard Bell was also killed in the early days of the war in one of the first actions i recall just before the taegue perimeter days. Our captain was Capt.Jennings then after Capt. Moody was injured. Colnel Holmes was battrey commander then. Our battery of 105's supported the 8th cav mostly as i remember. I have talked to one former memeber of hq Norman U.Turcotte of Nashua,NH by phone and had a great long talk. I found him in a search directory.
Am now retired and catching upon my hobbies of flying and amateur radio.

contact me in regard to the Korean action.I did
not get into any real action.

I returned to Korea with the above unit in 1952 on
Operation Decoy. If you never heard of it; it was
just a mock invasion force at Won Son. It allowed
the 8th Army to escape from seige on White Horse
Mountain. We climbed back up the nets and then
proceeded to make an amphibus landing near Sam
Song and Po Hang Dong. There was no action there.

We then proceeded to Pusan. I shipped out in Nov
52 and got home in time for Christmas.
