Comments: I'm looking to communicate with Lieutenants Ed Halstead, William B. Simpson, Ed DuBois, Victor H. Bray, Pruniski and others who served with me in Korea. I went "on the hill" across from Papa-san on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1952 and was in Korea until until September 4, 1953. I was in Kumhwa, Cheorwon, and Munsan-ni areas first as a Forward Observer, then an Air Observer. Our houseboy was nicknamed Jimmie, though his Korean name is Cha Yung Jin or Cha Yungjin from Seoul, South Korea. I had a great team, a Recon Sgt, A Wire Cpl and Jeep Driver. Sorry that I don't remember their names. I believe that I was in Battery A, 69 FA Btn, 25th Inf Div, IX Corp. 1st Lt. Jack Lavinder was a friend in our Battalion. He graduated from Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State while i was graduated from the University of Oklahoma. I heard that Jack was KIA on July 23 or 24, 1953, just before the truce was signed. 1st Lt. Ed DuBois was my pilot over the final battle for Pork Chop Hill on July 10, 1953. We came under intense anti-aircraft fire while over PCH. Ed quickly pushed the right rudder peddle and pushed the stick forward so that we went into a downward spiral as if we had been hit. Ed saved both of our lives. I would like to hear from anyone in the 69th during that time period.

Comments: I now remember that one of my pilots was Lt. Bill Simpson. Lt. Ed DuBois was my pilot over Pork Chop Hill on July 10, 1953 when we came under intense anti-aircraft fire. He put our L-19 (a modified Cessna 170) into a downward spiral to lead the enemy gunners to think we had been hit. We leveled off at about 1,000 feet and returned to our air strip with Ed saying, We've had enough combat for today. I am indebted to Ed for saving our lives and would like to contact him. I also remember a Lt Bray who was our Tach Officer and Lt. Pruniski. When I was on the hill across from Papa-san (Thanksgiving Day, 1952), Sugar Loaf, and other locations in Kumhwa, Choerwon, and Munsan-ni. I had great support from my Recon Sgt, Wire Cpl and Jeep Driver. If any of them remember me I would like to hear from them. Also Lt. Pruniski. Our house boy was Cha Yung gin or Cha Yungin, Nicknamed Jimmie He was 17 or 18 in 1953, just a few years younger than me, age 23. His family lived in Seoul. I sailed home from Inchon on the General Brewster in September 1953.

Arvis was a Cpl. in the Army and enlisted apx. 1946, after basic he spent 13 months in the Army of occupation in Korea. Then spent a year in Japan where he worked in an office as a battery clerk for his outfit. At one time he recieved orders to return to the states on June 8, 1950, but was recinded with the outbreak of the Korean War. He returned to action with the 25th Artillery Division, in a letter home he told his parents he was in action with the large 155m.m. artillery. His MIA date was August 12, 1950,after spending 17 months on the missing list he was pronounced KIA , the death date agreed with the missing date.
Since I never knew him I am eager to learn if there is anyone out there that remembers him or knew him while he was serving his country.
