Comments: My father Raymond Augie Augustyniak served in Korea 51-54. He was in the 999th Field Artillery Battalion --- fought within the Iron Triangle .. Places including: Pork Chop Hill, Old Baldy, Old Nordy, White Horse to name a few.

He enlisted in Chicago. After Korean War he joined the Marines. My dad earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star in Korea.

I would LOVE NOTHING MORE than to speak with someone who knew my dad, worked with him, and fought side by side with him. Red Falcone and I emailed a bit back and forth and he told me how my dad saved Red's brother who was left for dead.

I'm also hoping to be able to come to the reunion the last weekend of Sept in Arkansas. I do also have a few Picts of dad in Korea.....

I would humbly be fretful for anyone who responds. My dad passed away Sept 21, 2007. I miss him EVERY MOMENT OF EVERYDAY!!!!

God Bless ALL VETERANS WHO GAVE SO MUCH FOR OUR FREEDOM!!!

My forever, indebted respect,

Jennifer Augustyniak Fielding

I went to Korea in a cold January in 1952, and left in the cold December of 1952.

When I left, Lt. Depuew was th CO. COL. R.C. Ingalls Was HQ battery Commander.

I was a Chief of Section, and later I was promoted to SFC; Chief Of Firing Battery. I returned to the States in January 1953, and served my last six months at Fort Sill, OK. Next, I moved to LA and became an Electronic Engineer. I'm 81 years old now. Perhaps, that is why I do not remember the names of many of my B Battery service members. But, one of my section members was named POPINO'. He was from the New York area. there also MOORE and a young fellow we all called JUNIOR.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone had any recollection of him. If I'm not mistaken he was a radio man, one of the first blacks (so one of my siblings states). As there are 5 of us with a 17 yr span we don't have any clear stories.

Anyway, I don't think the unit was a black unit because from what he told me, the military was one of the first places for diversity.

He was born in Tennesse and enlisted while living in Detroit, MI.

If you have anyinformation on this unit, please let me know.
