He froze his feet in a river crossing, had the hair burned off the back of his head by a flare, and broke his leg while being flanked by the enemy as a Forward Observer. He spoke fondly of a Major in his company but I can't remember the name. Also spent time in Hokkaido hospital and as a prison of war guard there. Dad died in june 1991, he never spoke much of the war, would love to talk to anyone that served with him. 40+ guys in his battery are from Hominy, OK. Service or Relationship:
Comments: I was with the 160th from about May 1952 until March 1953, serving as forward observer, Battalion liaison officer, Regimental liaison officer, and finally as CO of Battery"C".
I am a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and now live in VMI's town with many alumni. While in Korea my battalion commander was Lt Col. Waters and his exec was Major Nolte. Our battalion surgeon was Bobbie Brown (formerly 3rd baseman for the Yankees and later President of the American League)
