50 Years Ago ----- Lulu Belle of 857 Rowland Ave. NE followed Sgt. Steve Miku on
the troop train, was smuggled on the troopship and became the only canine member of
the 987th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in Korea.

Comments: I served with the 987th in C Btry as apart of FO
team from Dec 1950 (in Colorado training) to
July 1951 when I was rotated home.
I was an army reservist called up to fill an
empty slot in Btry C FO team.
Would like to correspond with others who
served in this time or with those after to learn
how the unit fared in the next phase of the war
.
I was wounded in the so called Second Battle
of Bull Run (vets will know) in April of 51 while
detached to a Marine Unit as part of FO team
but rejoined the 987th later in June.
