Comments: We are trying to make contact with as many former
members of the 936th and 937th (Arkansas Long Toms)
Field Artillery bns. who served in Korea. This is
for the purpose of a possible reunion in 2003 to
oberserve the 50th anniv. of the Truce signing.
Both Bns. were federalized together from the
Arkansas National Guard in 1950, rushed to Korea
and served as seperate units until the end of the
Korean War. In Nov. 1954 both were combined into
the 142nd F.A./Arkansas National Guard. If you
would like to be a part of this reunion, share
some memories of your duty and try to locate
buddies, get in touch with me.

Comments: Hello! A large number of concerned citizens, as well as the Charleston City Government, are very interested in restoring the M40 Self Propelled Gun that the City has in its possession. We are told that there are only 5 left in existence, one of those being here in Charleston.

It is now located at Charleston Lake Park, which is located off of the main Highway that runs through town. Our intention is to restore it and put it on display along Highway 22 for all to see!

If you are interested in this project, please let me know. We need to hear from people like you, to get first hand knowledge of how this piece of equipment operated! Any information you can forward on would be most appreciated!!

Also, if you would like to donate your time on this restoration project, please let me know.

In addition, we would like to plan a 937th reunion for those who served in the Korean War...Let me know if you would be willing to support this!

Thanks so much! We are very much appreciative of your valiant bravery!

Comments: I was connected to Service Battery from Mena Arkansas. A Battery was also from Mena, Arkansas.
I rotated back to the States in April 1952. I had served with Service Battery before they were mobilized in the summer of 1950.I was in the regular army for a year and then rejoined the 937th in Korea in the Spring of 1951.
We had a group of wonderful people in our unit, I still see several of them when I go to Mena, Arkansas.
