Comments: I'm doing research for my grandfather who was in country from Sep '50 through Dec '51. He was the 1st Sergeant of Battery A-176 AFA, and Capt. Kmiecinski was CO. His nickname was "Little Richard" or "Little Dick", and there were alot of guys there from Danville,PA. He wore a 1st ROK patch in pictures. He was 31 at the time. So if anyone has any unit history they could give me that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

PS I'm currently an MP in the Army

Comments: I served in Korea in the 176 th Armoured Field
Artillery from December 24, 1951 to mid November 1952. We were self propelled M-7s with a 105 Howitzer. Our tanks had women in bathing suits painted on them. My battery was "A" battery. My nickname was "Red" for obvious reasons. I finished my tour as ammo sargeant. Faces are still in my mind, but most names have faded. Some names I recall are Bradly and Frank Ware. I would really like to hear from Art Priest who served as supply sgt. I would like to communicate with anyone who served in this time period. I look forward to hearing from you.

Keywords: I worked for Gunther Lurie (WOJG) and Sgt. John Buffo . Lurie was from New York and Buffo from Chicago. We all worked in the S4 office tent at Service Battery of the 176th AFA Bn. I was a clerk (Corporal) typing issue slips and a lot of forms I know longer remember. Also in our office was Al Bargamian (New York) a PFC, who worked with me. I did not get to know anyone really well, unfortunately, but I appreciate now what great guys they were--all of us coping with a very boring and potentially dangerous situation. I would love to hear from any of them and anyone else from our unit. I tried, a few years ago, to find out what happened to the 176th and was iinformed that it was disbanded a while back. I am 72 years old, retired from high school teaching of business. I moonlighted at ADT Security Systems for about 13 years as an alarm service investigator. My wife Joanne and I have four chiildren, two of whom are doctors and two are nurses (one of them married to a doctor). We enjoy camping, traveling, seeing our children and grandchildren. I also enjoy art as a hobby and belong a couple of local art clubs. I am busier now with retirement than I ever was working as a teacher. I feel proud to have served with the 176th, and would love to share any stories or anecdotes with my fellow artillerymen.

Hi Guys,

I served in the 176 th, Able Battery, from April 1953 until it was disbanded in, I believe, early 1954. I was in fire direction.
I was transferred to the 3rd Division after that until I got set back to the US in July 1954. I now l live in Pittsburgh PA. Drop me a line. Another former 176er, Vic Zarka, just phoned me and introduced himself. Would you believe that he and I worked in the same chemical plant for years and didn't realize we were in the 176th at the same time.

Anyone who might have known him would be proud of the fruitful live he has lived since leaving the Army Reserves in the mid 60's. He has no computer, so I am doing this for him. He suffered a slight stroke earlier today. I am doing this as a tribute to a fine soldier and a servant of his community. He is doing fine and has shown great intersest in contacting anyone from the 176th. James was a full time driver and retired from Trailways. He also preached in the Church of God in Bolivar for over 10 years.

Comments: I am looking for information on my fathers millitary history. I am hoping to find some of his friends or maybe someone that had known him while he served in the Army.

He had passed away May of 1961 at the young age of 30 years old. And i hadn't been born until the 23 of May 1961. So i really didn't have the oppertunity to get to know him or his past.

His name was James Junior Myers, but i think most people known him as "Junior". He was from a small town in Clarion County Pennsylvania, called Sligo.
I had found some papers with some names of his army buddies on them and as soon as i can come up with those i will try to update this with some of them.

I have some papers with different unit numbers on them, however i think while in Korea he served most of his time in the 176th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.

It would be very helpful if their is anyone out there that could give me any information about him or his group. I would enjoy hearing from you, so please use my e-mail address and i will be sure to give you a reply back if there would be any information that you may be interested in also.

THANK YOU
His Son Doug Myers

Keywords: Junior had,Completed Basic Training in Fort Sill Oklahoma June 13, 1952, Btry B 3d FA Tng Bn. And then sent to Korea until i beleive October 1953.
