Veterans Day 2021 - November 11, 2021.
Veterans Day November 11th, 2021
Today, we pause to reflect and remember.
We remember all those that we have come into contact with over the past 30 years. We also remember all the servicemen and women for whom we never met but may have come into contact with during our lives.
So many of the veterans who have interacted with us are sons or daughters of veterans and in turn have children or grandchildren who have served or continue to serve.
Included in our "salute" are those veterans from other countries that have been allies of the uniformed, miltiary servies of the United States.
The ranks of our Korean War Veterans are thinning. It is hard to accept that fact for any of us who have those veterans in our family or with whom we have created friendships.
So, once again, we salute all of them.

We Remember how the Korean War Project got started.
February 15 1995
The photo from the Chicago Tribute dated July 23 1995 really marked the beginning of the expansion of our website awareness across the US and worldwide.
What began as a vehicle to tell the story of our father, LTC Edward L. Barker, USMC, quickly changed from an online story into the multifacted, interactive website seen today.
This excerpt and the rest of Hal's "Return to Heartbreak Ridge, A Journey into the Past" maybe viewed here: Return to Heartbreak Ridge
Email sub-sections moving forward:
Many of our newsletter readers have signed up for sub-sections with our "subscribe" tool.
We have not activated messaging in those areas yet. Getting used to managing our new method of sending mass email has been a steep learning curve. Part of that curve has been atttempting to resolve issues of mail servers reporting mail recipients as "unknown".
Many of our readers have always wanted to have focus sections similar to the BBS and Looking For areas on the website. We have created the ability for anyone anywhere to join or leave one of these sub-sections where questions will be addressed.
Awards-Records, Post Truce DMZ-Era. Korean War 1950-1953, KIA/DOW/POW-MIA, Korean War Remembrance Book. Plus general topics; Korean War Project, Donor information, Contact Information Updates.
Note: users can always ask to expand or create a new area. We are slowly filling up subscribers to each section. You have to pro-actively subscribe or leave any one or all of these areas.
Book Update: Korean War Project Remembrance 1950-1953
Since the books arrived at our garage in late August over 220 have been sold and delivered. We have a couple hundred left and would love to be able to ship you one.
Recap: "The book is the product of 25 years of research into the women and men who perished during the Korean War while serving in USA forces. It is 528 pages, library quality, stitched binding, hard cover. 500 copies for the first printing."
"Comparisons with all the legacy DOD data files as well as hundreds of documents sent by our website visitors led us to correct, amend, add or remove names. Thousands of our visitors have sent in corrections with documents when needed."
"We have added over 525 women and men who were not on any US DOD listings in the past."
Note: We have set up links to online ordering. If you have questions or want to speak to us about ordering, call Ted Barker at (214) 320-0342. That phone does not accept text messages.
We shall be packing and shipping from our garage, a personal touch. See the blue link for full details: Korean War Project Remembrance 1950 - 1953 - Hardback Book

Note: Post Truce Korea (DMZ Era)
A recurring message that Ted Barker gets is from men and women who served after the truce up through current date. The theme is often not wanting to receive the email newsletters since the sender was not in service during the Korean War.
Well over 60% of our correspondents on the website and by email served after July 27, 1953. Everyone is welcome to be part of our extended "family". We have routinely posted information of value for this grouping since our first newsletters.
Books-Films | Reunions
We shall continue to feature published books, films or videos, or upcoming projects on the website, Facebook, Twitter, and here, in the newsletters.
There are still reunion associations for Korean War era units. Most have ceased operations, however. Please advise us so that we can update and/or add groups and reunions.
If you have questions, let us know immediately.
As always, if you wish to not receive group emails, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page.
