1. Dedication to our Veterans and Holiday Greetings
===============================================

We would like to dedicate this issue to our pen pals who
have serious illness as we write. Hal and I wish each of
you a swift and rapid recovery.

A special thought goes out to the families and friends
of those men who have passed this life during the time
that Hal and I have been online these past 5 years. Each
death makes our work that much more special to us.

Let us pause for a moment in our day to honor and to
reflect upon our Veterans who did not come back or those
who have passed this life since returning from Korea.

For those veterans who have lost wives or family members
during this time, we shall be thinking of you this
Holiday.

We wish all of you the very best for this Holiday
Season.

3. Kitchen Table Gang
===============================================

From: Charles R. Taliaferro <crtnjt@pacbell.net>
Subject: THE KITCHEN TABLE GANG

We are having trouble getting the word out about the
Kitchen Table Gang and its project of providing a little
"R & R" to hospitalized veterans.

We don't have bulk email facilities nor would we want
it, we depend on a grass-roots effort to get the word
out about us. To this end, I would greatly appreciate it
if you would visit our web site at:

We just wanted to tell you about our project to assist
our military veterans with something to pass the time
away while they are in a VA hospital.

If you were ever wounded or had an illness and spent
some time recovering in a VA or military medical
facility, then you know of what we speak. Please visit
our new web site at:

4. Korean War Children's Memorial
===============================================

www.koreanchildren.org

I will soon be posting on our Korean War Children's
Memorial web site over 300 newspaper articles and
hundreds of photographs on the relations of the GIs in
Korea and the children.

I have found a fantastic collection of Korean War
material, all of which will be posted to the web site.
Yesterday I posted 54 "love letters", letters written to
Korean War Veterans by Korean adoptees in America.

To fellow Korean War Veterans and friends:

Look under  "Memories/War Child Remembers".  The web
site is dedicated "To Those We Could  Not Save" and
honors the compassionate, humanitarian aid rendered the
children of Korea during and following the war by
American Armed Forces personnel.

Sincerely,

George F. Drake, KWV, Coordinator, Korean War Children's
Memorial

5. VA GOES ONLINE FOR BENEFITS and HEALTH
===============================================

Date: Mon, 06 Nov 2000
From VA FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
https://www.va.gov/pressrel/aponline.htm

November 3, 2000

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Veterans can now apply for benefits
and health care online with the Department of Veterans
Affairs (VA). Two new systems will allow veterans quick,
easy and secure access to apply for compensation,
pension, rehabilitation benefits and health care.

"This is the first step toward an electronic VA," said
Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs Hershel W. Gober.

"We will use the best in the business world and the
latest in the high technology sector to deliver world-
class benefits and care to veterans. That's a promise."

6. Interactive Korean War Timeline
===============================================

There is a brand-new, free download of a multimedia
"Interactive Korean War Timeline" available from the
U.S. Naval Institute available at:

https://www.usni.org/freestuff/koreanwartimeline.htm

The program includes a combined services timeline taken
from the Army and Marine Corps Web sites, and includes
Air Force and Naval ops. It has lots of pictures,
chapter selections from several Korean War books,
and some animated battle maps which make the happenings
of the war a little easier to understand. We think it
will be a great introduction of the "Forgotten War" to
anyone unfamiliar and a good resource for any Korean War
savvy computer user.

Sincerely,
Chris Nazelrod
Assistant Web Administrator
U.S. Naval Institute www.usni.org
