A. Aloha Chapter of Chosin Few  and Nick Nishimoto, a Tiger

Survivor pay respects....

----excerpt from message -----

From: "James Ward" <wardj001@hawaii.rr.com>

ALOHA TED:

The ALOHA CHAPTER of The CHOSIN FEW has it as one of their main responsibilities and purposes to Honor our Fallen Comrades well as our MIA's, POW's and KIA's.

As you may be well aware of the Chosin few dedicated Section "U" at the National Cemetery of The Pacific, (Punchbowl) Honoring over 450 UNKNOWN Heroes of the Korean War. And is included in our charter, " Everlasting remembrance of those who did not survive, RECOVER all Missing In Action, (MIA's) and  those listed as Prisoners Of War, (POW's). This involves close cooperation with the U. S. Government Officials and support of The CILHI for their great efforts.

Also of the greatest importance is: "Ensure that our fallen

BROTHERS and ALLIES of the war are NO Longer and NEVER FORGOTTEN by the dedication of Memorials throughout the world.

God Bless America and all who sacrificed for FREEDOM throughout the world.

Jim Ward

B. Nick Nishimoto<Tsuyoshi57@aol.com>, former POW and Tiger

Survivor remembers our fallen comrades:

Nick attends each arrival of remains of our Missing in Action from all wars. He has done this now for many years.

-----excerpt from message-----

For the remainder of this year there will be two more arrivals from the Pacific.  Oct. 31, 2000 at 9 AM incoming from Vietnam and North Korea, Nov. 13, 2000, 9 AM from North Korea.

I can assume almost all the remains that cross over at Panmunjon will be flown into Guam.  It is really nice to have a  schedule for the arrival date and I hope they will do this for next year  so I  can plan on having my POW's and family take in this precious ceremony that I attend on every arrival.  Three years ago they had departure ceremonies when the remains had a name but funds got short so they only have the incoming ceremony.

Aloha, Nick

6. Legacy Project, Washington, DC  -  Andrew Carroll

=================================================

Andy Carroll is the editor of a best selling book, Letters of a Nation: A Collection of Extraordinary Letters. He is also a sponsor of the Korean War Project and his book is featured in our Bookseller area among many other fine books.

Andy is now finishing work on another compilation of letters from American Vets and has a section on the Korean War. He has asked for Hal and I to do some groundwork for him in this venture, finding vets or families who have letters.

We have provided some good contacts for him over the past couple of months but he still needs 3 areas to be filled in with letters to home.

A. Pusan Perimeter

B. Inchon Invasion

C. Seoul (after Inchon)

What is needed are letters home from at least two men in each of these battle areas.

Contact Ted and Hal so we can put you directly in touch with Andy.
