For Operation Piledriver participants:

I received the following message from the writer named in the
message. If any of you served on "Piledriver", you might want
to send him an E-Mail.

Stu Rothman, President 17th Infantry Rgt

From: Alan Dowd, Email:
alan_dowd@email.com

I am a freelance writer. I specialize in national security
and military issues. I was recently contracted to write an
essay on Operation Piledriver, which took place in Korea
during the first three weeks of June, 1951.

While I have a firm grasp on the chronology and history of
the operation, my research lacks the all-important soldier's
eye view.

What I'm looking for is first-hand accounts, remembrances,
and general impressions of the battle-field aspects of
Piledriver--e.g, the conditions (I hear it was rainy);
the enemy (I hear resistance was strongest east of the
so-called Iron Triangle); equipment and weaponry; terrain;
preparation and mop-up.

The more personal and detailed, the better. If respondents
could include their division and rank, it would be greatly
appreciated.

I can be reached at:
alan_dowd@email.com or alandowd@amexol.com

Air Crew Ejection's

From Mike Bennett, E-mail:
MBenShar@aol.com

Mike is trying to identify all aircraft ejectee's in the war
zone or training in all aircraft during the Korean War.

"You may remember one of my targets is to list all known
ejectees from all countries since the introduction of the
ejection seat and assisted aircrew escape systems. "

Sincere regards

Mike Bennett

For Marines and Navy Corpsmen

From Herbert Renner, E-mail:
fmq@iwvisp.com

Thanks to your web site I have received many,, first hand
experiences for my first book with enough material for a
second.

The book is to be dedicated to Joe Keenan, a Corpsman who
died on the approaches to Reno on the first day of the battles
of the Nevada Cities, 26 March, 1953, and to the many Marines
who fought and died there. I was there at the time, only,
attached to Easy Company, 2nd Batt., 5th Marines, and was in
the battles for Vegas.

Any Marine or Corpsman who wishes to have his story or a first-
hand account included in the manuscript, please ask them to
send them snail mail, e-mail or fax to:

For the 65th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division

From: Silvia Alvarez Curbelo, Email:
salvarez@caribe.net

I am presently working in a book about the Puerto Rican 65th
Infantry Regiment participation in the Korean War. I have had
the privilege to interview many veterans in the past few years
and each time I get to know one of them feel more proud of the
Borinqueneers as they identified themselves.

My e-mail address for all veterans that want to share comments
about the Regiment is
salvarez@caribe.net.

5. Film in Progress - 90 minute documentary
===============================================

From: Ted Poole, Email:
tedpoole@hotmail.com
Dear Korean War Veterans,

Hello! My name is Ted Poole and I'm working with KPI TV in
New York to produce a 90 minute documentary on the Korean War
using only color film and photographs.

We do have footage that comes from the National Archives and
the military, however, color film was quite limited in use
during the war. Therefore, we are writing to veterans around
the country asking if you have any personal color film or
photographs that we may include in the program so we can more
fully and accurately depict the unfathomable bravery shown by
our forces in this unjustly "forgotten" war.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or information,
or you can call producer Chris Cassel at 212-643-0620 if you
might have any leads.

Thank you for your time. We appreciate your consideration.

6. PBS Memorial Day Tribute to Korean War
===============================================
Dave Nutter informs us:

On Memorial Day, 2001 at 9:30 EST a documentary supported by
the Disabled Veterans of America - DAV plus corporate sponsors
will air.

It features interviews with over 30 Korean War Veterans many of
whom will be recognized by most of you. Photographs never before
seen on TV are featured.

Check your area for viewing times. And, if it is not listed, the
DAV asks members to contact your local PBS channel to request
the show be added.

===============================================

Thanks to all of you for helping make the Korean War Project
successful.
