========================================================== 2. Korean Language SPAM Email Update - URGENT
==========================================================
Important update:
Since the notice about Korean or Asian language spam went out on the 21st, Hal and I have heard from people all around
the world. It appears to be a universal problem and not limited to just Korean War theme web sites.
Hal found a news article in the Korea Herald, dated Jan 18th of which no mention was made to me (Ted) in my many
discussions with Korean officials.
https://www.koreaherald.co.kr/SITE/data/html_dir/2002/01/18/20 0201180024.asp
Many of you have asked to be removed from our site and I
have complied. But, your email has already been grabbed.
This Korean spam mess is seriously affecting our mission, to communicate, freely, on the Internet with those of you who
visit the site. For this we are sad and very mad at the same time.
Hal and are deeply humiliated with this horrible turn of events. Professional hackers are far beyond our ability to
defend against. The same is true for any web site, however.
Dozens, if not hundreds of you, have been following our instructions to reply to the spam and send to Mr. Terry Lee at KISA, in Korea.
Many of you have written directly to the Embassy and have asked for the phone number to the Washington, DC Embassy.
Please revisit our web link about Korean Spam for updates at:

========================================================== 4. "Ride to the Wall"
==========================================================
Hi Hal & Ted:
I'm sure, as veterans, you are aware of the annual Memorial Day motorcycle "Ride to the Wall" otherwise known as
"Rolling Thunder" where more than 250,000 bikers meet at the Pentgon parking lot and ride to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This ride is primarily to bring attention to the
lack of action concerning the return or accounting for our POW's and MIA's and to urge the government to get off their duffs and do something about this situation.
For the last couple of years I have been trying to form an annual ride to the Korean War Memorial during the weekend of June 25. This ride would be to honor and show our respect
for our comrades that never returned. Unfortunately, either there are not that many Korean War veterans that are bikers or they just don't have an interest in a project of
this nature...perhaps there hasn't been enough publicity about the ride. In that respect, I'm hoping that you may be able to provide some assistance.
I have emailed various organizations with no luck, so, I'm
seeking your help. Perhaps you can suggest who and how to contact certain organizations that can be of some help.
My hope is to make this not "The Forgotten War" anymore, but
make the public aware that it was one where thousands of our courageous men have given their all.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I thank you also in advance for whatever assistance you may be able to
provide.
Sincerely,
CHARLES V. (CHRIS) CHRISTIAN <CSXIAN97@msn.com>

========================================================== 6. KWVA Tell America, another Chapter, 270 ==========================================================
We have an active program at KWVA 270 in the DFW Metro- Plex also. See our report:
Korean War Vets Tells High School Students How it Was
About a dozen members of KWVA Chapter 270 joined about forty
other veterans from other service organizations at a special program at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas to honor veterans and to give students an opportunity to hear from
vets themselves about their military experiences.
Shown in the photograph is Charles Smith pf KWVA Chapter 270 telling his story as youngsters listen intently and take
notes for their classes. (photo not included here)
300 students sat in groups of 3 to 6, rotating with 3 different veterans during a two-hour period, listening to
the vet's story of how they came into the military and their experiences. KWVA members told about the so-called "Forgotten War" so the youngsters would learn the truth and never forget.
The program was designed by Bryan Adams history teacher Diane Birdwell and ROTC instructor Lonnie Clark.
Thanks,
Ed Buckman <ebuckman@gte.net>

7. Bravery Gold Medal of Greece for Colors of 1st Cav Div ==========================================================
In our last newsletter, April 21st, I mentioned the notice
of The Bravery Gold Medal for the Colors of the 3rd Inf Div.
Marty O'Brien wanted me to make sure that the site visitors knew that the 1st Cavalry Division was also a receipient of the very same tribute.
The First Cavalry Division also received the Bravery Gold Medal streamer. The Greeks were attached as the 4th Bn of the 7th Cav Regt, 1st Cav Div for most of the war.
Then they were attached to the 3d Inf Div from April 1953 thru the end of the war in July 1953 (and perhaps a little time thereafter I believe).
