========================================================== From email:
Sir, I wasn't sure where to post this so I am forwarding it to you with the request that it be disseminated to the
Society of the 3rd Inf Div and, in particular, your veterans of the Korean War.
The attachment describes SGM (ret) Raymond Beringer's heroics. The BSMV will be awarded by the CG, 3ID,
MG Blount, on 6Feb02, at the Luxembourg Army Barracks in Diekirch, Luxembourg on the occassion of the swearing-in of new recruits.

Two Pictures On The Mantle In Goodness He Lived, In Love He Died. His Life Was Craved, But God Denied. Rest In Peace My Son,For Soon We Will Be Coming Home.
Two Darling Pictures On The Mantle,We Took Of Him As A Child. They Stand There As Two Lonely Darlings , Adding Tears To Our Smiles. He Would Have Been Home By Springtime,But God Called Him
Home To The Fold. Two Darling Pictures On The Mantle, Worth More Than A World Full Of Gold. Two Darling Pictures On The Mantle,Each Line On His Face Has A Story To Tell.
Of A Boy Who Gave His Life For His Family, And His Country As Well. His Darling Face Is Dear To Remember, A Treasure To Behold. Two Darling Pictures On The Mantle, Worth More Than A World Full Of Gold.

========================================================== 6. KWP salutes Volunteers helping with MIA ==========================================================
Ken Page, Ed Moynagh, Ray Sestak, Art LaJeunesse and Sylvia O. Bailey-Munoz
Hal and I want to make a special acknowledgement today, for a group of volunteers who have used the web site as a base
of operations for answering email inquiries for those still Missing from the Korean War. (aka Finding the Families)
For about 3 years now, a loosely affiliated group of KWP
members and visitors have reviewed the casualty databases, the guestbook and Remembrance area to try to answer questions posed about men who are listed as MIA or Declared Dead Body Not Recovered.
These folks have had a great impact performing this function by filling in holes for the Dpt of Defense, putting family and DOD researchers in touch, finding unit information, and
answering many hundreds, possibly thousands of email posted to this site.
Up in New York State, Ken Page of the NE Chapter of the Korean War Veterans has put in many hundreds of hours
finding information, photos of men for not only the KWP but the Honor Roll KIOSK at the Natl Memorial.
My pen pal, Ed Moynagh of Huntington Beach, CA has been
working for years now to resolve Air Force related inquiries and moved to all service assistance. 300 Army and 100 Air Force cases worked upon !!!
Ed has gotten Ray Sestak up and running. Ray lost his
cousin, Myron (345th Bomb Sqdn) and has been doing yoman work with Ken and Ed. Ray is another New York State man, Westerlo.
Art LaJeunesse is another of the group, from Latham, NY, a
charter member of the KWP and member of the 23rd Inf Rgt Assoc. Art and Ken work hand in hand, doing this work for years now!!
Sylvia O. Bailey-Munoz, retired Air Force, is the newest
link in this network of folks and a big welcome to her.
Ed Moynagh and Jan Curran (Board of Directors - KWP) often attend the DPMO Family Updates.
Add these folks to the official work done by people like
Megan A. Smolenyak (featured in several newsletters) and the staff of each service casualty office and quite a few case resolutions have been completed.
There may be others I am forgetting to mention, but not
intended, - editor.
========================================================== 8. Bookstore note ==========================================================
The Bookstore, Film, and Work in Progress will get started again in the next newsletter. We have several items to post but our scanner is still out of commission at present, so,
covers will not be posted until that is fixed.
Thanks to all of you for helping make the Korean War Project successful.
Regards,
Hal and Ted Barker
