========================================================== 1. Ham Operator's Sunday CQ 14,319mhz ========================================================== Update from Hank Sherman < hsherman@cybercomm.net
> 5th RCT URL: https://www.cybercomm.net/~hsherman/Genealogy, Ham radio, computers & Korea.
I will be monitoring the 20 meter band (some where around 14,317Mhz and 14,319 and it was clear. Called CQ on the
frequency for ten minutes and 2 mobiles came back. Looks like a good frequency, DX contests will not, I hope, be up there), on Sunday to find a clear (if possible) frequency.
I feel that Sunday will be a reasonable time to attempt this. say around 10:AM. As soon as I get the facts together I will be informing you of the time and place and
hope you that are hams will help me out. This should be fun. No rules till we see how many will show. Just an informal net. My wife also has a license and I will ask her to take the notes and logs.

========================================================== 5. REACH- Responsibility-Ethics-Attitude-Choices-Health ==========================================================
From Joe Memmo: a program for substance dependant Vets:
REACH is: Responsibility-Ethics-Attitude-Choices-Health.
It is a 90 day program (Can Be Longer) depending on the veterans status after 90 days.
It serves veterans with a substance abuse problem who are homeless. It has 55 beds, 4 man rooms, real nice facilities located at the Brockton, VA Medical Center in Brockton Ma.
The veterans attend groups, get indivuial attention from trained councilors, also get help with job training, seeking housing, education. The veteran can work after being in the program 6 weeks.
REACH is a wonderful program but like all our benefits of late it is suffering from the cuts that are being made to our benefits now.

========================================================== 7. Greenville SC area KVets - take notice!! May 13th ==========================================================
From: Jeff Holt
Constituent Service Representative Rep. Jim DeMint (SC-04) 300 E. Washington St., Suite 101 Greenville, SC 29601 864-232-1141 (phone) 864-233-2160 (fax) https://www.demint.house.gov
Congressman DeMint will invite all of our Korean War
veterans (that are eligible and have received a lapel pin) to a Korean War Commemoration Ceremony on May 13.
Colonel Neal, Jr. from the DOD KWCC will host along with Jim DeMint.
To ensure that our Korean War veterans receive proper recognition for their contributions on behalf of freedom, Congress has authorized America's Commemoration of the 50th
Anniversary of the Korean War. As part of this three-year commemoration, a Korean War Service Lapel Pin is now available through Congressman DeMint to eligible veterans of
the 4th District. "The pin is just a small way for us to tell these brave soldiers, sailors and airmen that what they did and that all they sacrificed in Korea will not be forgotten," said Congressman DeMint.
The Korean War Service Lapel Pin has been provided to a number of members of Congress as well as Commemorative Communities across the nation. With the assistance of
several local veteran leaders, Congressman DeMint established the 4th District of South Carolina Committee in 2000 as a Commemorative Community.
Pins are available to all veterans who meet the following criteria:
* Served between the outbreak of hostilities, June 25, 1950, and the date the armistice was signed, July 27, 1953.
* Served on permanent assignment or on temporary duty for 30 consecutive days or 60
non-consecutive days.
* Performed his/her duty within the territorial limits of Korea, in the waters immediately adjacent thereto or in aerial flight over Korea participating in actual combat operations
or in support of combat operations.
Veterans who reside in the 4th District (Greenville, Spartanburg and Union counties) can request lapel pins by contacting Rep. Jim DeMint at his Spartanburg office,
582-6422 or at his Greenville office, 232-1141.
Editor Note: for those interested in other US Districts, contact your own Representative to create a similar program.

Since January, the Korean War Project has been enlisting the help of the Washington DC based Korean Embassy and the Honorable Ambassador from the Republic of Korea, Mr. Sung Chol Yang, to fight this problem.
If you have a similar problem, see this page on our site for tips and how to report the abuse directly to the ROK office handling our complaints.
