Editor's Note:

The early July newsletter was sent out in short form
using the link to the web page. Many of you had trouble
getting to it. All of the recent newsletters can be seen
from the main KWP web site. Check the right column under the logo for the link. Click into that area.

More: I have about 4700 entries for which I need email
updates from folks. The "update-needed" indicates that we
need new addresses for folks. Help us if you recognize
someone.

Hal and Ted

3. Finding The Families - Rep. Steve Israel, Long Island
===============================================

July 24, 2001

United States Representative Steve Israel, 2nd District,
Long Island, made a 1 minute speech on the floor of the
House today to alert members of Congress to the "Finding the
Families" project. A tip of the hat to Rep. Israel!

Hearty thanks to Tom Calautti of Long Island for alerting
Rep. Israel. Tom was a Medic at Murphy Army Hospital, NY.
and treated many of our servicemen from the war.

You can learn more about Representative Israel's commitment
to the Finding The Families Project at:

https://www.house.gov/israel/purple_heart.htm

Hundreds of families have been identified and DNA samples
taken since the Finding The Families project was announced
in May. For our voluteers and families, don't give up
hope!

Just this past weekend Department of Defense investigators
reached the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea and began
the search for additional servicemen lost in November and
December 1950.

5. Habitat PLUS in Lynn, MA - Veterans Assistance
===============================================

Dear Mr. Barker,

I work for a non-profit organization called Habitat PLUS in
Lynn, MA.  This program's basic philosophy is to provide
safe, supportive and affordable housing to psychiatrically
disabled veterans.  We have been in existence for over 12
years.  This  program treats its residents with care
compassion and absolute respect.

We work with individuals seeking to reach their individual
peak levels of independence.  We have a group home and an
apartment program.

We'd like to get to get the word about this wonderful
program.

Thank you,
