1. Korean War Project Pledge Drive Continues ==========================================================
On August 28th, we made notice of our "August Pledge Drive".
Over 697 persons responded to our request for financial help. Several of those people suggested that we run the campaign 3 to 4 times per year, similar to PBS on TV.
See our link: https://www.koreanwar.org/html/newsletter_august_28_2002.html
Many of the donations continue to come from long term pen pals developed since 1995. Each of those is recorded on our Membership | Sponsors area.
The letters, notes and email that accompanied that drive were and continue to be inspirational and heart-warming. Many of the contributors have family or friends still missing or "unaccounted for" from the war.
Living tributes from many of those donors appear in the Guestbook, Looking For and Remembrance areas of our site.
Quote from August 28th: " Due to a severe downturn in
donations, we are urging all persons or groups who have not previously donated to our nonprofit (IRS 501c3) website to do so now.
===========================================================
Donations have been and will continue to be Voluntary! The Korean War Project is Free To All Visitors, But Voluntary Donations Keep Us Online. ===========================================================
Our Continuing Goal:
A) The Korean War Project has been online since February of 1995 to help record tributes to our servicemen and women who served in Korea. The KIA/ MIA database, the Looking For and
Remembrance areas indicate that living tribute.
B) We continue to routinely provide contact information to media from around the world for stories about the Korean War and the DMZ War.
C) Working with the Department of Defense Service Casualty offices for our "Finding the Families" initiative is still on the top of our mission list.
D) As the date of July 27th 2003 nears, we wish to be in position to continue our tribute to the veterans and their families.
Thank you for financial help you can provide.

========================================================== 2. Excerpts of Recollections - November 11th Newsletter ==========================================================
Hal and I received many email from folks who enjoyed the two excerpts from Recollections on Jack Morris and Ted Hofsiss in the last newsletter.
One reader even knew Jack and many more were on the same ship home!
Inquires on Mr. Hofsiss' book continue to roll in.
Quite a few of you sent in your own stories and we shall be sharing those stories with our viewers in the near future.
Thanks to all who responded!
========================================================== 3. DMZ War messages ==========================================================
An excerpt from a visitor: - - -
Ted,
I served as a JSA MP, from OCT 1966 to FEB 1968. I was aware of the work that we were doing, as well as much of the work of other DMZ units. From my vantage point, the war was not
cold for those of us who served in the DMZ at that time.
George Cole In Front of Them All ===============
Another excerpt:
Dear Mr Barker;
Just a short note to advise you that I truly enjoy these
newsletters. I am a veteran of the Joint Security Area at PanMunJom. This tour was a real eye-opener, as a Infantryman I relied on the training I received and continued to
received from the seasoned Non-coms I was assigned to serve with.
As I sat in my home tonight I reflected on the bitterly cold night patrols right along the MDL markers at the 38th
parallel waiting for the AK 47s to start firing. After a while you could just guess when the gun timers would go off.
It still was a terrifying experience. Well Its late, I will write again,
Have a great Veterans Day
Sincerely,
Cliff ===============

========================================================== 5. International KWP site visitors ==========================================================
Hey Barkers,
Thanks for the access to the newsletter. I send you greetings form the Slovak Republic, city of Kosice, and USS.
Having the newsletter to read monthly is great and helps me
instill just what the USA is about with the Slovaks and the young expats who have little school housing about the price of liberty.
Standing tall in the face of adversity is not considered a
bad characteristic by most of the PEOPLE in the world.
Well done and Semper Fi,
Jim "Doc" Pitzer h-3-7 1st. Marine Div 53/54
