Comments: My father is Walter "Red" Snyder. He served in Korea just after I was born (7/1950). I do not know what unit he served in. He may have been involved with radio communications. Hd did that kind of job for the army after WWII in Germany. He died when I was young. A car accident. So I never got to know him as a person. If anyone knew him or knows where else I can seek information I would appreciate the opportunity to put a personality with the face I remember. Thank you.

Never had one in my hand before landing in Korea. They told us the North Koreans would stop when they saw that we were Americans. They should have told them, because they did not. Our Company M 75 MM recoiless Rifle would not stop their tanks. Many of he guys I knew surrended that first time were were in combat on July 5th, 1950.
They captured or killed most of our Battalion staf also. I got a CIB and a Silver Star not becaue I was brave but because I was angry and very scared. I did not perform acts of Valor but rather acts of anger.

Comments: Looking for anyone who served during this time, and who may remember the rescue of a seriously wounded Platoon Leader, George Amspacher. My father, Ron Rodenberger, and another soldier (would like to contact him) carried their wounded leader on a summer sleeping bag for about 1 1/2 -2 miles to the safety of Medics (looking to contact them), while under enemy artillery barrage, mortar, and automatic and small arms fire. During this rescue, it was impossible to cross an open area, so my father ran down to a tank position, asked for their help, and they turned their turrets toward the snipers, clearing the way for them to take their wounded leader to the assembly area.
I realize it was 50 years ago, but I offer my thanks in advance for any information anyone may offer. Thank you for such a wonderful and moving website.
Sincerely,
Stacy (Rodenberger) Joosse

Comments: Looking for anyone who might have been with him during that time. My husband and his sister would like to talk to anyone who knew him. He is sadly missed by his family. I never got to meet him but from what his family sayd he was a special guy. He was from Pittsburgh Pa. Thanks for any info

Comments: I am looking for information on any members of BN Staff, 3rd BN, Jun-50 to Sep-51 that may have served with my father. He was the S-2 NCOIC, was commissioned while he was there (Battlefield) and ran deep recon and intel gethering missions. I am looking for any info regarding his service, wounds that he received (grenade schrapnel) and Malaria treatment that he received there. His wounds were minor, was treated and remained on duty, but he went to the rear because of Malaria. He returned to duty and served an extended tour.
He is living in Indiana and I would love to get him in touch with some of his comrades.
