Comments: My father was an FO for the Heavy Mortar Company of the 15th Infantry Regiment. In the 1953 yearbook he is pictured with the 3rd Platoon of the Heavy Mortar Company, last row, far right with what I believe was a .30 Carbine over his right shoulder. Stood about 6' 2. He grew up near Boston and had a heavy accent at that time. One of the most noticeable features he had was a very large scar along his right jaw from an injury he suffered as a child. Southpaw with light blue eyes. I have a few photos of him from his time in Korea which was from January 1953 to late July/Early August 1953. I am very interested in obtaining copies of any other photos of him that anyone might hand.

Comments: We found my father-in-law's discharge report and have questions. He rarely mentioned his time in the Korean War so we know very little about his service. His name was Willard R. Zemlin and was called Bill. He was from Two Harbors, Minnesota. Bill was a radio repairman in the HQ & HQ Company, 15th Infantry Regiment. Enlisted 23 January 1951 and was discharged 04 October 1952, serving overseas for 6 months and 23 days. He was awarded Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, and United Nations Service Medal.

Where in Korea was HQ and HQ Company at this time? Would this unit have moved during the war or was it stationary? We know so little, that we don't even know what to ask. Thanks for any assistance.

I think (if I'm recalling what he told me correctly) he stayed
behind in a fox hole after it was hit Bc his friend was fatally
wounded. My papaw held him as he passed away, then went to
the other fox hole for cover... I may have the story mixed up I'm

I never met Him (born 1967) but would like to know more about Uncle Clell and the situation and circumstances of this day.. Many of his younger siblings (8) are still alive and I would like to be able to give them some closure of some sort, they dont
talk about it because they really know nothing. Would
someone please share what info You can remember? I know it has been a Long time, but I have looked at some impressive writings from alot of vets, who remember! Thank You to All Korean War Veterans
