Congrats on seeing ya'all on the CNN spot-(05/29/01). I was at work passing by the T.V. site here at Boeing when I saw Ted and Jan on CNN. I fear that I only saw the tail end of the CNN interview, but CNN is very good at re-boardcasting worthwhile interviews. I hope to see more of the Korean War Project in the news...maybe increase contributions a wee bit.

P.S. I reckon you might expect a check in the mail...check your mailbox...I'm long overdue in the Contribution Dept to support your site. Carlos

Korea. As a grown man I was not prepared to be as emotionly moved as I was by it.

Editor: Older posting==
My name is Steve Stratton, I am a son of a twice
wounded korean war vetran. Unfortunatly my father
passed away 3 days before the national korean
war memorial was dedicated. For the most part
my father was not a very emotional man. But in
1990 I taped several programs on the 40th anni-
versary. On my parents next visit we sat down one
and watched them. I watched my father out of the
corner of my eye and could see the memories and
emotions being stirred up. My father told numerous
stories but I know there many more that he kept
hidden and will never know. As the son of a korean
war vet. I appreciate and will not forget their
saccrafices made.
Sincerly
Steven Stratton

Comments: I have my father Floyd K. Ekers DD214 but cant make a lot of sence out of it but a little information on it is. He was in Army from Dec. 20, 1945 to Sep. 19, 1951

Within this time he recieved WWII Victory medal, WD Cir 326 Occupation Medal WD Cir 102---Combat Infentry Badge Par 313 SO (or SQ) 215 Hq 21 Inf.

His service number was RA 16 383 387 on his DD214 and on his DD257A it was RA 15 383 487. I do know he spent some time in heavy artilary fire because he lost 75% of his hearing while he was in Korea.

He told me stories of Snow and freezing nights. He spoke of friends and bars (of course) and he often spoke of times when he was too scared to worry about being afraid of Dieing.

Please anyone with any information for me I would love to correspond with you.

I have a few pictures of Daddy with his buddies and in all of these pictures he is smileing so these must have been good friends...Dad died 5yrs ago.

Any information on what he did and who was his friends would be appreciated.

He was assigned to the 24th Inf. Division, 21st Inf. Reg., 3d Battalion, Company K during the period of July 1950 to December 1950 until he was injuried badly. What he is looking for is to obtain a copy of what they call "The Morning Report" or "The Casulty Report" or "The Daily Action Report" during that time frame. Right today he is still very proud on what he had to do back then, but seldom speaks about those times of his life which I am sure is painful. Recently my husband and I and our 3 children returned from being stationed in Seoul,(Yongsan)Korea which we lived there for 4 years. My father was very proud to say that I was there working for the U.S. Army, in a land he remembers only being left in rubel not even a tree was left standing in Seoul. Only in these last few years has he opened up to us about what he experienced in Korea during that time frame. Many of the older Korean people still think highly of the Americans and what they did for them back then. I told them that my father was there and they thought the world of him even though he was a stranger, only because he was there to help them to get their country back. Living there and seeing so much and being able to go to the North Korean border and showing my children where their grandfather and so many men and many who never returned fought for. It was a very educational for them, they thought about things very hard the reason for the war and how Korea is now. And how the North Koreans dislike Americans so much. Seeing the Korean country side and experiencing their weather conditions I know now first hand how very difficult it must of been to accomplish anything. I would only like to say I am very proud of my father and so many others who had the courage as he did. If anyone has any information on the type of reports that my Dad is looking for it would be greatly appreicated that the information be forward to me. Any help would be great! And by chance if there is anyone out there that might of been assigned to my Dad's unit he would love to here from you!!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Thanks Again,
Kimberly (Lake) Goulden

Comments: MY FATHER WAS ONE OF THE 1ST ONES SENT TO KOREA. I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT HIS PAST. HE NEVER SPOKE OF THE DAYS HE WAS IN THE WAR. I KNOW THAT HE WAS A POW FOR 38 MONTHS AND HE WAS A MASTER SGT.IN THE CID GROUP. SPECIALISTS 1ST CLASS. I KNOW HE RECEIVED MANY MEDALS INCLUDING THE BRONZE STAR, AND 2 PURPLE HEART MEDALS. THE ONLY INFORMATION I HAVE ABOUT THOSE TIMES WERE FROM MY MOTHER WHEN SHE WAS MARRIED TO MY FATHER. HE DID MAKE THE ARMY HIS CAREER CHOICE. HE DID RETIRE FROM THE ARMY. HE SPENT HIS EARLY LIFE GROWING UP IN WINSTON SALEM NORTH CAROLINA. HE HAS SINCE PASSED AWAY THIS PAST SEPTEMBER 1ST, 1999. HE WAS ALSO IN THE PHILLIPINES IN WWII. IF ANYONE KNEW OF MY FATHER FROM THE KOREAN WAR, PLEASE EMAIL ME. HE WAS ALSO IN THE DEATH MARCH AND WAS A SURVIVOR. MY FATHER HAD A VERY STRONG WILL. WHEN HE WAS A POW FOR SO MANY YEARS, MY MOTHER KNEW HE WAS OKAY AND THAT HE WOULD COME BACK AND HE DID EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD HE WAS TORTURED VERY BADLY. I COULDN'T EVER IMAGINE THE PAIN AND SUFFERING HE WENT THROUGH, I GUESS THATS WHY HE NEVER MENTIONED THE WAR.

Comments: My father, 1st Lt. Thomas F. Sheehan, was Co. Commander of M company from Aug. '50 until Feb '51. He survived the war and retired from the Army in '64. He passed away in 1986. He was awarded the Silver Star for an incident on Sept. 8, '50. I would like to hear from anyone who was in his unit, whether or not they remember that incident. I am putting together a short history for our family. Thank you very much.
