Comments: Looking for anyone that can provide information about Cpl. Randolph Chapman RA1120228, 2d Platoon, E Company, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d ID. He was also known as "Chaddy" by his friends. He was from Sanford, Maine and received a Silver Star for action on 1 Sep 1950 in the vacinity of Changnyong. He was reported to have been captured on 2 Dec 1950 and returned to military control on 3 Dec 1950. He was awarded a PH at one point but, I don't have the details.
I'm helping my brother in law, Chaddy's son piece togther his family history. Any help getting specific information about the above events would be greatly appreciated. I'm very interested in unit history giving details on and around the dates of these events.

Comments: My grandfather, John F. Huber, took command of 1st Platoon, E Company, 23rd Infantry (31 men the day he took over, as he claimed) around 10 OCT 52 and was in Korea until the end of the conflict. He earned a Silver Star and
Purple Heart on 16 OCT 52 for an action on Hill 198 (as a 2LT). I am well educated on most things that he did, as I have many of the letters that he wrote home and have also seen the 2ID’s reports from the time he was in theater and found him listed in a few different places.
I am West Point Class of 2019 (So Freedom Will Reign) and commissioned into the Armor Branch. I am just looking for any stories, photos, etc that
anybody that knew him or remembers him might be able to share... thanks!

Comments: I was only about 4 years old when Gilmer came to live with my family in Winston
Salem. He was my hero and he kidded with me and played and was like my big
brother. Then, he joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Lewis, WA. After
the N. Koreans crossed the 38th parallel in June of 1950, Gilmer's unite, the
23rd Inf. regiment of the 2nd Division was one of the early units to be sent to
Korea. Not long after arriving in fierce battle, he and 40 some other soldiers
were captured by the enemy and jailed in the Taejon Police Station. Shortly
before the breakout of the Perimeter by the American and South Korean troops,
Gilmer along with 40 others were tied together and marched from the jail to a
open trench where they were murdered, all in violation of international law. We
should never forget this and the many other atrocities committed by the N. Korean
government, which are still going on. They should be made to pay for these 70
years of atrocities.
I would like to link up with any family of those others who were murdered on
this occasion. Here are their names:

liberated.

We don’t know a lot about his time there. He rarely spoke about it. I believe he was at Old Baldy and the Punchbowl. This man was awarded the French Republic Croix de Guerre of the Foreign Theatres of Operations with BRONZE STAR by French Lieutenant-General Montclar for bravery, indomitable tenacity, highest combat spirit while attached to the 3rd Co of the French Batallion on front line mission to attack Hill 931 known as Heartbreak Ridge on October 5, 1951.
I am sad to know that the French Repulic Lt-Gen Montclar recommended Fred Kirsh for a US Bronze Star Medal with "V" device submit on October 31, 1951 which he eventually received. Comments: My grandpa served in Korea with F Co, 23rd INF, 2nd DIV from May 1951-April 1952. He recently started talking about giving me his military stuff when he passes. On that note, he gave me a duffel bag from his time in the service, but it isn't his. The name stenciled on the bag is CLIFFORD WENGER, and his service number is stenciled as well. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me find him or someone related to him so I can possibly pass his duffel bag back to him or his family.

Comments: My uncle John C. Nordquist served in Korea with the unit mentioned above. He died before I had a chance to know him, and I've been given a framed certificate of his called The Order of the Indianhead. It's signed by Commanding General J.C. Ory (it might be Day - hard to read) and dated 16 October 1952.
Can anyone tell me about my uncle (he was a medic), the certificate and what it might have been given for?
