Comments: I'm looking for information on my father's Army unit -he was a medic in Korea from 8/51 through 8/53. He was a PFC, his name was Albert Anthony Melfo. He was from Youngstown, Oh, and he played the bugle for his company. The info I have on his form for "Most Significant Duty Assignment" lists: "1st MED FLD 196 APO 971" If anyone knows how I can find out what his unit was, and how I can obtain a patch, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your help.

Comments: Comments: I am looking for anyone that can give me stories or information on my father, Frank J Mihalik from Mt Carmel, PA. I know he was Army and I think he did Engineer work but don't know the exact unit. I know he was close to combat as he talked about the nightly "bedcheck charlie" flights at night from a North Korea plane. He passed away and he rarely spoke with me about the war, as I was too young back then, but I'd like to find out anything I can. Anyone that knew him or remembers stories from their fathers who served with mine would be great. I also know he was a sgt at some time. ANYTHING would help...thanks so much!

Comments: I am looking for anyone that can give me stories or information on my father, Doyle Nelson. I know he was Airborne but don't know the exact unit (82nd or 101st). I know he did a few combat jumps in Korea. I have one picture of him from that time. He passed away in 2005 and he never spoke with me about the war, as I was too young back then, but i'd like to find out anything I can. Anyone that knew him or remembers stories from their fathers who served with mine. I also know he got as high as SSG but due to his anger and behavior, he could never hold a rank =).Also, an injury during a combat jump sent him to Ft. Benning, GA to become a jump instructor, that's all I know. ANYTHING would help...thanks so much!

Comments: Was ammo supply specialist with battalion. Gen Bruce
Clarke was the Corps CG. Battalion commanders were Hugh
Richardson who went on to become first 4 star in the
Ordnance Corp and LTC (Col) Sterling E Purnell who
worked at APG in his final years. HHC CO was Steve
Stasco. We controlled 6 ASPs for the 314th Ord Group in
Seoul. Our railhead was at Chunchon. We had ASPs 44, 50
60 72 and 73, the last one I cannot recall. We received
a Presidental Unit Citation for the retrograde of ammo
from the 45th when they deactivated. It was a fast 18
months and my interest in the Korea people led to the
adoption of a Korean girl at 6 weeks old in Seoul
during a tour with the UN command in 1971. She is now
an RN with three children. She holds an advanced degree
in nursing and continues to be our pride and joy.

Comments: After his honorable service in Korea, my Great-Uncle Waldo spent some last years in the South West U.S. He was my mom's favorite uncle because of his comedic talents. But he liked to wander. He even labelled himself a hobo. When he quite suddenly stopped checking in with the family, my great aunt hired a PI. His last social security deduction was taken from pay for work at Juan Corona's Sullivan Ranch. We still don't know if beloved Uncle Waldo was one of Juan Corona's 25 victims. In closing this cold case for my family, it might be helpful to learn if he visited any of his brothers-in-arms and if so, when.
