Comments: I am looking for anyone who served with my father.
I have his discharge papers which state that he
was in Korea from 1950 to June 1952. His service number is RA14 325 602.

It further states that his most significant duty assignment was Svc btry, 695th AFA Bn.

He was also in Ft. Jackson, S.C.....5th Inf. Div Sch. from Nov. 28, 1948-Apr. 2 1949.

I am looking for anyone who knew him and would be willing to help me understand his experiences there. He was a very troubled man and ended his life tragically in August 25, 1994.....the same day something significant happened over there as noted by an old newspaper article he kept that I still have in my possession.

Thank you for any help.

Comments: I have a cousin in Sisseton South Dakota that has
suffered every day since he got out of the WAR in
Korea with malaria and other medical complications. I don't believe he got an honorable
discharge,however I can't believe my country will
treat its veterans the way this man has been treated for the past 47 years or so. He was a seargant at one time and I believe he was wounded and sent back to the states to recoup and then order to return to Korea.
I just feel he's suffered enough for this country and something should be done to help him. He's never been one to complain and hasn't even tried to get compensations of any kind.
Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated.
I am a retired Navy Veteran and served in Vietnam.

City and State: OR

Unit:

Comments: Looking for anyone who served with William (Bill) Lewis Moon in Korea. I have just begun my research, but I believe he was in Korea in 1953. I'm no military authority, but it appears from the papers I have that he may have served in the 9th Engr. Combat Battalion.

Bill didn't speak about the war much, so the only thing I know at this point is that he was stationed at possibly the 38th parallel on the Yellow River and they defended a bridge. Also, someone he served with lost his leg, so Bill packed flour around the wound to stop the bleeding. He also spoke about a Korean boy who cooked their meals and did their laundry and such. He tried to adopt him when his tour was up, but ran into too much red tape.

Bill played the guitar and sang country. One song he wrote was "Burp Gun Boogie."

The records I have don't show it, but he was wounded in the leg at one point. There is a note that says "8 days lost under sec 6 (a) app 2b MCM 1951." Can anyone help me translate what that means? Does that have something to do with his wounds?

Thank you so much for your help. Bill passed away in 1993 and my husband (Bill's son) would love to talk to someone who served with him to know a little better.

God bless all of you who served!
