Comments: Hi - my father in law was a war orphan adopted by Paul Raynor who
served with the Army at Seoul City Command from 1950 to 1952. I'm
writing a family history about the adoption and would like to speak with
anyone who served with Paul in Seoul, particularly those who remember
him spending time with a 4-year-old boy who was known as Jimmy. I'm
also particualrly interested in contacting SFC Wernar Krenzer, who would
have been 27 in 1953 when he accompanied Jimmy home from Korea to
the midwest where he was reunited with Paul. Thank you. -Misty

Comments: I am looking for anyone who served with my dad, Fred Skipper, in Korea. He was from Wilmington, N.C. At one time he was with the 101st airborne div. and was attached to the Green Berets. He was a Ranger. There were very few people in his specialized unit. My dad suffered a leg wound and was 18 days without medical care. During this time, he had a North Korean General in custody and returned him for interrogation. The leg wound, without care for so long, bought him a ticket back home. My dad died on June 11, 2006. I have some gaps in his military history and would love to talk with someone who was with him there. One guy that he mentioned alot over the years was a soldier named Jesus. Stateside he was stationed at Camp Polk and Fort Bragg. He also had a close relationship with General Yaeger.

Comments: The body of Sgt. Francis Eugene Lindsay was recently discovered near Unsan, Korea along with seven of his fellow soldiers. I am writing a story on what this recent find means for his three surviving sisters, who have wondered what happened to him for 57 years. They plan to bury him on what would have been his 78th birthday June 7 at Arlington National Cemetery. Unfortunately they believe two other people, or at least one other person, should be there with them and have no idea how to find them. They know their brother married a woman named Doris Gibson Oct. 7, 1948. They have the marriage certificate. Shortly before he went missing, he told his oldest sister they had a daugther. She doesn't recall him giving a name of the child. The Army's investigation turned up no info on the wife or potential child. I'm trying to find any of his army buddies who may remember Sgt. Lindsay's talking about the woman or the child. His sisters said most of his friends died with him the night they were attacked on the night of Nov. 1 to 2, 1950. During the battle the eight soldiers who were discovered with him along with nearly 400 others from the 8th Cavalry Regiment were declared missing or killed in action. Anyone with any remote memory of Sgt. Lindsay mostly known as "Gene" would be helpful for my story. Please contact me at 314-954-8022 if you have any information on this soldier. He was born and raised in Esther, MO know known as Park Hills.

Nicknames: "Gene" and "Sonny"

Keywords: Also buried with him were Master Sgt. Alfred Alonzo of Tampa, FL; Sgt. 1st Class Robert C. Buscheit of Hamilton, Ohio; Cp. Joseph Gregori of West Pittston, Pa.; Cpl. Darrell Scarbrough of Fayetteville, W. Va.; Cpl. Homer Sisk Jr. of Ducor, Calif.; Cpl. Charles E. Sizemore of Rushville, Ind.; and Cpl. William E. Wood of Moorhead, Minn.

Comments: Hello all.

This is my first time anywhere trying to locate info about my Father, a Korean War Veteran, named Frank Del Campo. He was born in Ecuador, immigrated to the USA, and volunteered to go to Korea.

My father died in NYC at the age of 58 in 1991, and we unfortunately didn't speak very much about his service while he was alive. I know that he was a US Army firefighter in Korea, and I believe he was stationed in Korea sometime just before and after the ceasefire in 1953. I don't know much more about his service except that he told me a few stories about the kind of suicide missions often carried out by children who would start major conflagrations my hammering on oil/gas pipelines.

Shortly after his return to the USA, my father had to be admitted to the VA hospital for the tuberculosis he contracted in Korea. He was in and out of the VA Hospital for a few years.

This is about all I can remember from speaking to my Father. Any info from anyone one on Korean War Veteran firefighter units, or on the off chance if anyone ever knew my Father Frank Del Campo, or any leads on how best to continue my search, would be greatly appreciated.

God bless the USA,
Tony
