Comments: My grandfather was in the Korean War, and WWII (at least from what I am told). Unfortunately, he died before I was born and nobody knows anything about what he went through because he was out of the house the day he returned. I was just wondering if anybody knew my grandfather, Zygmundt Niemczyk. He was from Chicago, IL and served in the United States Army for at least 15 years. I know it is a long-shot, but I was just going on some chance that somebody knew him or at least had heard of him. I don't know anything about his unit, time frame in Korea or anything like that, but his name is not very common, so I thought maybe somebody would remember it. Thank you for your time,
Dina Niemczyk

Comments: My father, Leon E. Motley, Jr. (from Canton, OH) served in the Korean War. He has shared a few stories with my sister and me about the war, but one we have heard many times is about another soldier named Sasaoka (sp?). He was shot in the right leg and my father heard from someone that the injury required the leg to be amputated. Dad is alive and well and I have often wondered what happened to some of the other soldiers he served with, especially Mr. Sasaoka. I, unfortunately, do not have unit numbers or anything. I am just curious and would like to be able to tell him what I find out. Thanks!

Comments: I just want to know more about a man I loved most of my life. My father passed away on 15th Jan 1998 and his loss is still with me. My best member of my Dad's time in Korea was of a shoebox of pictures he has which no one was aloud to look at. He had shown me a few of them and told me that he lost alot of good friends. Once he even said that he didn't understand why he was spared when other better men than him were lost. My mom said he earned two bronze stars while he was over there, but due to fire loss the army has no record of this. I guess I will never get them replaced. I'm not sure if he served in the 6st Inf. in Korea or just in the states. I know that unit assignments sometimes change when you are overseas. Any info would be greatly thankful for any help.
