Comments: During the Korean war my oncle, John Hohl, wrote about a battle that took place on Dagmar Hill. His letter read:

We took up our positions, on Dagmar Hill the perimeter there was a regiment of Australians to our left and a regiment of the National Guard to our right and our regiment, the 7th in the middle. We were a regimental combat team, which meant, we had our own artillery. A division in all 12,000 to 15,000 men. We were told, that there were 6 divisions of chinese heading our way, 80,000 to 90,000 men and that we must hold our position at any cost; so we began digging our trenches all along the perimeter and at the base of the hill we strung barbed wire with flares and bombs to let us know when they were coming. The attacks were generally in the morning and while it was still dark. It was about 2 days later and while it was still dark that flares and bombs went off. We shined search lights at the clouds which lit up the field like daylight. The field was full of chinese soldiers and up in the clouds was...

Comments: My Name is Ross Freeman, my grandfather was Adam Gregoire. My Grandmother just brought some of his war stuff over so I decided to tell people about how he got the silver star. SERGEANT ADAM B. GREGOIRE, ER 38383112, Infantry, Company "E", 7th Infantry,3rd Infantry division, United States Army. On June 6 1951, near Harang-dong, Korea, the Third Platoon of Company "E" was attacking Hill 705 when its advance was halted by intense small arms and automatic weapons fire. As the men of the third Platoon took hasty cover, the enemy began to throw grenades down the slope. In this desperate situation, Sergeant GREGOIRE voluntarily jumped up from his covered position and single handedly charged a nearby enemy machine gun emplacement. Heedless of the heavy fire being concentrated on him, he continued forward firing his weapon. Exhausting his ammunition, Sergeant GREGOIRE hurled a hand grenade into the hostile position, silencing the weapon. His courageous actions inspired the remainder of the platoon to follow him in an assault which terminated with the successful seizure of the objective. The gallantry and aggressiveness displayed by Sergeant GREGOIRE reflect the highest credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from the State of Louisiana.
