Comments: I am looking for information on my Uncle Tony.
Here are the circumstances surrounding his MIA. Does anyone know him or know of anything about him?
GENERAL MILITARY SITUATION AND CIRCUMASTANCES OF LOFF: PFC (then priivate) Voreh was a member of the
2nd Battalion, 7th Infatry Regiment. On April 24, 1951 Voreh's unit, (the heavy weapons company of the battalion) was located to the East of Chongong-ni about three lilometers North of the 38th Parrallel and midway between Yonchon and Tongduchon in present-day South Korea. It's sister battalion (3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment) was located to the southwest, just outside Chongong-ni, so that the defensive positions of the two battalions skirted the MSR, Main Supply Route that ran southward to Tongduchon. On April 24th, both battalions came under heavt Chinese attack, but were able to halt the Chinese advance and withstand repeated assaults throughout the day and into the evening. Heavy fighting continues throughout the night, and on the morning of April 25th, the Chinese intensified their attacks on the 2nd and 3rd Battalions, presenting their main line of resistance (MLR). Orders were received for the Battaltions to withdraw while holding contact with advancing Chinese forces. Upon reaching the small town of Popsudong, the 2nd Battalion confronted more Chinese forces. After a short firefight, Chinese forces dispersed. It was during this activity near Popsudong that PFC Voreh became missing, although the exact circumstances and location are unknown. Based on the incident date, he became lost during his unit's engagement with a large Chinese force between Chongong-ni and Popsudong, to the East of the MSR going North from Tongduchon. We have no information to indicate the enemy captured PFC Voreh during this fighting. Returning Prisoners od War did not mention having seen or heard of PFC Voreh in the POW camp system.

He was a master at making good meals from the rations that were issued. His chow was
so good that a lot of other personnel, including many officers, that just happened to
be in the area around meal times. We became good friends and made trips to the
railhead to pick up rations.
I took him to the railhead when he rotated home, later ran into him at Ft. Lewis, WA.
under stressful circumstances. When he was discharged I took him to Seattle-Tacoma
Airport on his way home.
Like a dummy I didn't get his real name or where to contact him later. All I know is

Comments: My grandfather Earl L. Fairchild Jr was in Korea 1951/52 and
according to his DD-214 he was with the Heavy Tank Co, 7th
Infantry Regiment. His initial training was done at Camp Rucker
Alabama in early 1951 and at that time he was with the 194th tank
battalion. I am having one hell of a time trying to narrow my
search as all of the documents I have seam to be from different
companies, battalions etc. If anyone out there knew my
grandfather or has any information on the Heavy Tank Co I would
be very interested to hear from you. I have several pictures of
his buddies at what i assume is Camp Rucker. The only full name
listed was Jimmy Callens or possibly Lemmy Callens or Collins
dated June 51 another simply says Bud and another Dan. The
signature Bud is unique in that the letter D is carried below the
other letters with two hash marks through it. The picture signed
Dan is one with a gentleman outside a building, snow on the
ground and he has a Border Collie on a leash. From what i have
found out so far was he was at Heartbreak Ridge and I also heard
a story of his tank being disabled on the battlefield surrounded
by Chinese if memory serves me correct and they were pulled to
safety by a tank recovery vehicle. My Grandfather passed away in
1995 so all i have are fragments of his military history and
would love to be able to reconstruct this portion of his life for
my family to share. I thank you in advance for any information.

Comments: Dad was an Army medic. He never talked much about the
war.I think he had a touch of P.T.S.D.
He was 6'5 and loved to box while in the Army.
I think he was a Staff Sargent.
He accidentally chopped three fingers off while
chopping wood to keep his men warm.It was Dec.
and very cold,so he picked up his fingers and ran to get
them sewn back on.Of course the sight of blood didn't
bother him.His fingers were successfully sewed on but
he said he no longer could complete his assignment,so they
sent him State Side.

Comments: My cousin's husband,PV2 Ellis Eugene Myers, Serial Number ER16242352, MOS 4745, was KIA on February 13, 1951. His wife (my cousin) died last year.
Their daughter is seeking info about her father and I am trying to help. I know he was awarded the Silver Star, but cannot find a copy of the citation on any website.
Also, I would like to obtain additional info
concerning the location of his death in Korea and the circumstances.
Any further info that would be appropriate to pass to his daughter would also be appreciated. I have no info concerning his Battalion or Company at the time of his death.

Comments: I am the son of John J. Burke, now deceased. I am looking for information pertaining to my father's active tour of duty in Korea. He received the Korean Service Medal with w/1 Bronze Star, Combat Infantry badge par 12, So 172 HQ 7th Infantry 29, July 1953 and Presidential Unit Citation ROK DAGO 29/54, National Defense Service Medal and Unit Nation's Service Medal.
I am particularly interested in learning how he received the Bronze Star and for what specific action. Can anyone out there help me? I know it is a great source of pride for my family to know he served our country in time of neeed with great honor. His grandson has also just returned froma tour of duty of Iraq with the USMC and would love more information about his unit and their specific actions during the conflict.
I have reached out to the military but was told most of the records were lost in a fire. Can anyone help? Does anyone know about these forgotten heroes?
