Comments: Came aboard ship/ship bosun chair transfer as replacement AT2 for VF74.
Transferred out of NAAF Opamma Japan. Finished Cruise and was transferred to
FASRON 7 in San Diego NI. Got a ride from Frisco to San Diego on a MARS
aircraft-a giant seaplane. I believe the one I rode on was the Phillipine Mars.
Gilbert Morris an AO2 was transferred with me. I remember having troops flown
aboard from the frigid front lines on holidays got a good meal and a good nights
sleep before going back. They thought we had it good.

Comments: I have been a military aviation historian / writer for the past 40+ years. This has led to my having numerous books and articles published. You can get on line and go to either www.amazon.com or www.google.com and type in Warren Thompson when they ask for "search". It'll show you some of the things that I have written. Currently, I am writing a book on F4U Corsair operations in the Korean War. I would like to hear from anyone that served in VF-74 during this period.

just before or in the early part of the Korean War. He lived in Brockton MA. I am unsure of what Carrier he was associated with. If anyone was in the Navy with him or has stories or pictures or information please contact me. My dad passed away in 1989. Thanks so much for your help

Comments: I was not with Vf-74 on the Bon Hom Richard in Korea. I did not have enough time left to go, but I painted, and helped to ready the aircraft to go over there and kick some Commie ass.
My rate was AM-3. However I don't recall your name. Do you have any names from others who served in VF-74 during, or before your time with them?
