Comments: My Dad Jim Long was a Chief Petty Officer in VF-24 during the Korean War. He passed away from a heart attack in 1970 when I was 6 years old. I'm hoping to find someone who could tell me about him as I didn't get to hear his stories of his service. Thank you.

Comments: I just had a book published on F4U Corsair Ops in the Korean War and am now working on a hardbound / coffee table type book entitled: "U.S. Naval Aviation in the Korean War" It will cover all squadrons with their history, personal comments from personnel and color slides/photographs of the aircraft. If any one from the squadron had anything they think might help me on this, please let me know.

Comments: I have been a military aviation historian / writer for the past 40+ years. This has led to my having numerous books and articles published. You can get on line and go to either www.amazon.com or www.google.com and type in Warren Thompson when they ask for "search". Currently, I am writing a book on F4U Corsair operations in the Korean War. I would like to hear from anyonethat served with VF-24 during that period.

Comments: Cdr Mclaughlin was an exemplary leader. A tall and very quiet person. He flew the f9f-5 off the Essex. I worked on his plane and others in the squadron as an AM2. Can you orient me as to which squadron I was in? Time has made some of the memories fade a little.
Keywords: Lieut Commander McGlaughlin was the commanding officer of either vf23 or vf24. He flew the silver colored plane with the number 00. I left the squadron on a hi line at midnight around March 1955 near the "tachin islands" between taiwain and the chinese mainland.
