I also had a bunch of my Dad's old photos from his days in the Navy scanned and am wondering if there is a way to upload them in case anyone is interested.
Thank you for your time.

Comments: It has been over 60 years ago I left the USS Philippine Sea upon arrival back at Alameda Naval Air Station at the end of the Third cruise to the Korean War. I afraid we all are getting a little long in the tooth.
All I can remember is that it was a lot of hard work and long hours. I mostly did the printing of aerial photographs for maps and target photos for pilots of CAG-9. I also took Navy pictures of items of interest around the ship and of Piper Laurie (Movie Star) when she entertained toward the end of our cruise 1953.
My one hitch in the Navy was a rewarding experience and certainly helped me when I let the service and returned to civilian life.

hit by the propellor of an AD 5 Skyraider aircraft built by the

like Baker was to pull the chock and lay flat on the flight
deck until the aircraft took off.For some reason,Baker, instead

Comments: Hi,
Does anyone remember my Dad, Charlie Pole? He was from Oregon.
I don't know much about his service, but I do know that he served on the USS Philippine Sea, CVA-47. I also know that he was on board for SURE in 1953. I think he said that he was a "Gunner", but I'm not real sure.
He had to leave the service on a medical emergency because my Mom got in a serious auto accident and he had to come home.
I'm trying to get together a book of rememberances to give him for Christmas. I would like to include in it stories or photos or anything like that. In addition I would like to give him a list of names and address/E:Mail addresses of old shipmates if possible.
Please contact me if you remember my Dad, Charlie [Charles] Pole from Oregon and have anything to contribute I sure would appreciate it.
Thank you for any help that you can give me in this project.
