Comments: Looking for Information on Robert Norman Redden. Plank owner on USS Saipan, served 1946 - 1948. I'm helping Robert's son William (Bill) J Redden find information on his father Robert. Sadly, Robert passed away in 1975 from routine surgery. Bill as most children wasn't interested in his fathers Navy career at the time he was alive so he never asked any questions about it.
I have found very little information about Robert and was hoping that someone may have been a shipmate and would have a few stories that they could tell about Robert or at the very least what they remember about him. Thank you for your service and I appreciate any information you may have.

In October 1953, she departed the east coast and steamed for the Panama Canal and the Pacific. On 30 October, she arrived at San Diego, whence she continued on to Pearl Harbor, Yokosuka, and duty off the coast of Korea in support of the uneasy truce agreement.
Assigned to TF 95, she was primarily engaged in surveillance and reconnaissance missions along the coast and in inspection patrols of the islands just south of the 38th Parallel.
In January 1954, she interrupted her patrols to provide air support for Japanese manned LSTs ferrying former Chinese POWs from Inchon to new homes on Formosa. In early February, she participated in amphibious exercises in the Ryukyus, then returned to Inchon to stand by in the event she was needed for an evacuation of Indian troops from Panmunjom.
