Comments: I have posted two videos on YouTube of VA-923 which were filmed during their 1951 deployment aboard CV-31 to the Korean theater of war.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHgxF0Us_po

The first video depicts carrier operations aboard CV-31.

Included on the film are a flight of F4Us in formation, several landings, and pilots conducting their pre-flight inspections.

I would like help in identifying the 3 pilots shown in the film.

If you have any information on them please contact me.

Comments: My father Lt. Robert Lawrence of the USN Naval Reserve flew combat
missions during the Korean in his F9F Panther Jet off the USS Bon
Homme Richard. He survived the war only to return home to the USA
and loose his life in a peace time training flight in California on Sept
27, 1955, nine months after my birth. I possess a citation to my father
from the then Commander of the 7th Fleet, Vice Admiral H. M. Martin
awarding him the Commendation Ribbon with the Combat
Distinguishing Device for his attacks on North Korean and Chinese
Communist Forces on August 30, 1951 in the Wonson area.
I also possess official Navy photos of his landing his jet on the carrier
with only his right wheel down due to anti aircraft fire during another
mission. Knowing little else about my dad, if you sailed with him on
the Bon Homme Richard and knew him, I would much like to speak with
you. Thank you. Gregory J. Lawrence

One person here wanted to know how the BHR got it's name. My understanding is Benjamin Franklin's book "Poor Richard's Almanac" is how the Bonnie Dick got her name.

Anyone out there that served back then? Best Regards, Don
