Comments: MY DAD HAS HAD PROBLEMS DEALING WITH AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED ON THE USS CORAL SEA BETWEEN 1953-1956ISH WHEN A MAN WALKED INTO A PROPELLER. HE HAS NO DETAILS ABOUT THE GUYS NAME OR DATE OR EVEN ANOTHER WITNESS THAT IT EVEN HAPPENED. THE VA WILL NOT TREAT HIM FOR PTSD IF HE CAN'T AT LEAST FIND ANOTHER PERSON WHO KNOWS ABOUT IT.

Comments: After 58 years I just received the Navy Marine Corp Medal for Heroism.
I was an HU2 Fleet Angel air crew member when I rescued Lt.Calvin H Lee who
crashed on takeoff in his F2H-4 Banshee on the CVA Coral Sea Med Cruise
on 3 December 1956.
He was incapacitated in the water. Against orders I went in after him.
I just received the information description from St Louis Military Archives.
I am looking to contact Lt Lee.

my brother, Robert, when he was in the Navy. He was
selected VF101 Grim Reaper's Sailor of the year for
1977. He helped build the Porcupine #1 in 1958
while stationed in Jacksonville, FL.with Fighting
VA-44. Was honor man of Class 7003 when it graduated
at the US Naval Amphibious School in Norfolk, Va.and
was a member of the Underwater Demolition Team
Training program.
Would like a few more details. Robert died in 2003
of Lung Cancer. Still miss him.

Comments: Looking for anyone that can substantiate my flying in a Helicopter over to the USS Ranger in March '65 to visit my brother, Roy Baker and on to deliver the mail to the escort ships and then on to Danang.

Also, anyone that can state that they knew that I flew off the Coral Sea on July 04, 1965 on the COD, into Danang and then on to Subic before going on the the States for Separation. It seems as if the Ships Logs are sealed and I cannot get the flight records. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: I served with VA86 aboard the Coral Sea during the 69-70 Westpac
cruise. Sometime that winter we went to Korea (not the March 68
deployment). Does anyone know the dates we went - and WHY we went
- I always thought we were there because of North Korean captured the
USS Pueblo, but now know that event happened 1/68 (I was in "A"
school at that time and would not have been aboard ship). Would like
any information about this deployment that is available.

My grandfather did collect zippo lighters on all the ships in which he served the lighter I have has a flag on the lid of the lighter. along with the ship etched in black on the back and the ship with a blue background on the front.

Campaigns include Vietnam Defense, Vietnamese Counter Offensive III, TET Counter Offensive; also CORAL SEA's Armed Forces Expedition into Korean waters. Made first deployment Demember 1964 form Alameda, CA. Boatswain's Mate duties included work stations on STBD sponson during ammunitions, commisary and fuel replenishment.
