Comments: My uncle Herbert A. Lanier served on the USS Bataan during early 1950's. I am producing scrapbooks in honor of my 6 uncles in one family who all served their country. Uncle Herbert passed away in 1997 and we have very little contact with his surviving family. I would be so honored to have any pictures, stories, information, or contact with anyone who might have known of him or his service on the USS Bataan during these years and the Korean War. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All 6 brothers' pictures will be hung in our County's Veteran's Museum with an accompanying notebook to portray each brothers' years of service. I am so sad that at the moment Uncle Herbert's page is empty. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Comments: My father served on the USS Bataan CVL 29 I believe from 1950-53. His
name was John Smith, and was also known by the names "Jack" and "Mort."
He loved his service on the Bataan. Back in 2000, I found on the Internet
an official Navy cap with the USS Bataan CVL 29 on it and gave it to him
for Xmas. He almost cried and proudly wore that hat until the day he died
in April 2006.
I'm wondering if anyone can provide some stories or info on the role the
Bataan's played in the Korean War.
Thanks very much for your time.

I thank you and God Bless our Veterans.

There was a Presidential Review by President Truman

left New York, as she was assigned to another city.
Where was she on Saturday, October 27, 1945?
