Only one time did we hear him mention of a time when the POWs were put in a cave and kept there for a long time and many men starved. He was one of the few that survived. He had only been in Korea about 3 weeks before he was captured and he was only 17.

I was in H Co machine gun platoon on Halloween, 1950, in support of G Co. We lost about 600 men that night. I also remember the order for "Every man for himself." approaches to Old Baldy in Oct Nov and Dec 1951.
G Co- My old outfit-manned at that time, a
platoon sized outpost. Just beyound the foot of
Hill 200.

From accounts of the 7th Div battle for
Pork Chop Hill I've come to believe that G Co
Outpost, as we knew it, and Pork Chop are one and the same. If anyone on this very good website
can set me straight, I would appreciate it very
much. This has troubled me very much since the
Pork Chop Battle occured; and its about time to
set my mind free.

There was a bloody battle on G Co Outpost on
the night of Nov 21-22 (Thanksgiving Eve 1951).
Lt James Stone received the Medal of Honor for
his participation in this action. The platoon
decimated that night was from F Co 8th Cav.
An account of this action is in the book "Korean
War Heroes".

I hold it a honor to have you allow an old Cav
trooper to participate in this great website.

Comments: Seeking confirmation/further information regarding Company "K" being located at Camp Crawford when 8th Cavalry Regiment departed Korea the last time in late 1953 and deployed to Hokkaido, Japan, until the end of the war. I have a photocopy of an aerial photograph of Camp Crawford and I would like to know where Company "K" buildings were located within Camp Crawford. Seeking photograph(s) of Company "K" Headquarters building(s). Does anyone know what exits today at the location formerly occupied by Camp Crawford? Interested in current images/photographs of area. How far was Camp Crawford from city of Sapparo? Thanks.
