He was started out in the war in the 7th Cavalry, and ended serving with the 8th Cavalry and was injured in the war on June 11, 1951. He was held as a POW/MIA, but not held in an actual camp, and is trying to prove this. His family also received a telegram that said that he was KIA. Since all of his military records were burned, he is trying to connect with anyone that would remember him. If anyone still alive knew him or served with him I would like to hear

I know you men went through hell as my father was wounded several
times and had his teeth knocked out by the butt of a chinese rifle (the
chinese got knifed for his efforts) he had had a lot of shrapnel in him
still when he died in 1995. My dad was a WWII Veteran of the
Navy in the Pacific as well. (Destroyer)

I know he carried the BAR and was involved in H2H as were all of
those brave men.

Please email me if you have any greater details of which battles and
what happened.

I am a disabled veteran as well and I would like to be able to tell my
family what happened. My dad did not talk much about what
occurred but being a veteran myself and taking one look at him gave
anyone a good idea of what the hell he must have gone through.

Thank you in advance and thanks to all the men who served lived and

Comments: After over 56 years, my Uncle, Sgt Frank Bunchuk, is coming home, as his remains have been identified, thanks to all those involved in finding and identifying remains from the Korean War, located in North Korea. This was made possible through DNA obtained from my mother (his sister) and I through the DNA Identification Program. Although from Orleans/Niagara Counties in New York State, the family has chosen burial at Arlington National Cemetery, which will take place on 09 August 2007. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing closure to our family and allowing us to BRING UNCLE FRANKIE HOME. This experience has shown us that they truly ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!

Again, THANK YOU, Jeanette Welsh
