Comments: My great uncle was declared MIA in 1950. Until the day my grandmother passed away in 1982, she believed that he was alive. Since then, his status has been updated to MIA, died while missing. I guess its hard to understand how they can know when he died, if they still have yet to find his remains. I realize that there are ongoing DNA testing, etc. I hope to one day know what really happend to him.

He was very young, as they all were. I am told that he left home after a fight with my grandfather and enlisted. I can only imagine the fear instilled in him during those times, and how lonesome he must have been not writing to his familly, but a couple of times. I also can only imagine the pain my grandfather must have carried with him until the day he died, knowing that his son died under those circumstances.

I have only seen one picture of him, and would very much like to learn more about him. He was from Grafton, MA.-

Thanks so much for your time, your memories and your compassion.

Comments: looking for anyone who might have known my dad, Lt.eugene milord.
My dad was a platoon leader in E. Co.He passed away in 2002.
In a newspaper article in the Stamford Advocate(ct.),which had been told to my grandfather then submitted to the paper,he describes an action in which his platoon was ordered to assault a hill after a turkish platoon had been decimated in the first attempt.
He assaulted the hill with a loss of 29 casualties, including himself.
The chinese had rolled grenades down from the summit on to them.As he described this to me as a boy,his guys were reluctant to "go over the top"after witnessing the turks failure, but how they overcame a "rotten situation"and went.
This action took place on Feb. 3rd 1951 near anyang or suwon during operation thunderbolt.
He was medivaced out and recovered in osaka.
He returned to duty as the aide de camp to general mitchell, deputy divisional commander of the 25th div.He also talked about having commanded a ranger company, taking chink prisoners, but i don't know that timeline. prisoners. He couldn.t have been popular with those kind of losses with his guys after that, but i think he was considered a savvy officer.
If any of you guys remember him, please let me know.

Our family was never given any explanation of where or how he died. Took months for his remains to get home and the closed casket funeral was burned into my memory. He would have been 78 now, I doubt if any of his friends use the internet or could remember him from over 50 years ago. He was from Westmoreland Co., Pa. Many were wounded or KIA that day, hopefully someone out there will respond,
