Comments: My uncle was CPL Daniel Joseph Carter from Mt.Olive, NC. Corporal Carter was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Company "I". He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on March 11, 1952. I was born June 25, 1952 and my mother named me after him. His Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman. I have been told he died in Minnesota Line, near Sonjon, North Korea. I am hoping to locate anyone that served with him and can share any of their memories with me. I have a very clear photo showing him standing with five of his comrades and a Korean boy. I also have a letter to my aunt from Chaplain Lester B. Woosley, Capt. detailing the circumstances of his death and naming others he served with that may help someone recognize or recall him. I can email them to anyone that wants to view them to see if they recognize him or the others. I thank you in advance for your interest and assistance, and thank you all for your selfless service and duty.

Comments: Just wanted to post an update:

I am just writing to thank everyone out there for sparing your time and helping me to find information about my great uncle Leroy Broeders. It ended up working out perfectly, we found a picture of him and were able to make a little memorial board on black silk with the photo, the medals and all the memorials and other stuff that everyone ending up helping us to find. We also found a photo of the man who pulled my uncle off the field when he was killed, which we were able to put on the board too. This gift was given to my grandfather (Leroy's brother) just yesterday at a family function, words could not describe the surprise and emotion on his face, we couldnt beleive it, he cried like a baby, and said "you don't know how close we were" and proceded to talk about his loved, but not forgotten brother...... it was a very emotional day and a very happy day as well. My grandfather is going to make a safe box of some kind with a hinged glass cover for it, we filled a void for him, and again I would just like to thank everyone out there for your help with this project, as everyone in our family was touched, it was a huge success, and we are very grateful for your kindness and generosity.
This does not complete our search however, any new information found would still be greatly appreciated.

The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PV2 Leroy J. Broeders, RA16343036, who died in the service of his country on September 10th, 1951 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as MIA to KIA. He was from Dickenson County, Michigan. Leroy's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

Comments: I'm mainly looking for any medal information to make my grandmother a shadowbox to honor my grandfather's service. I'm serving in the AirForce now and realize how important it is to remember those who served before us. If you have any information reguarding medals or ribbons awarded for service during the times listed please send me an e-mail. My grandfather was awarded a bronze star but never said why. He never talked about his experience during the war until a few years before he passed. He found some army friends and things started comming out but it was only to his buddies. I only know bits and pieces from overhearing his conversations. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Comments: Looking for information on my Uncle. HIs daughter found some paperwork that says that he was a SGT in SV Company, 35th Infantry Regiment @5th Infantry Division. He served in Korea and was awarded 2 Bronze stars. Trying to find anyone who knew him and give us some history on his service in Korea. We can not find any paperwork other then his disharge which is real hard to read, so we are going to try St Loius and the VA , but would also like to hear any personal stories anyone would like to share with us. Thanks for your service and welcome home!

Comments: I found a picture of my uncle. His name is Fleming Jacobs. He is in a picture with another guy. The picture seems to be taken at a carnival or amusement place. They are standing behind some jail bars. My uncle is wearing his uniform and the other guy is wearing a white button up shirt and uniform pants. I know it is a long short but any info would be greatly appreciated. My uncle died September 24, 1951. I am putting together an album on him (in his memory), it contains his flag from his casket, his army picture and his medals. I would like stories to go with it. I would like to know who he was.
