Comments: My Grandfather served on the USS Antitam during the Korean Conflict. I'm not sure what he did, what rank he was, or the exact dates. If anyone has any information, or rosters of the ships crew please e-mail them to me. My Grandfather's name is John Schmidt, and he is from Buffalo, NY. He also said he served on the "Bonham Richard". Any help or information in tracking down his military career would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: My father, Reese Ellis Thomas served on the USS Antietam. I'm not sure what years and I can't really ask him because he is in the hospital with Sepsis and I don't know if he will be able to come home. I am his daughter and he has always spoken about his time out at sea and wondered if there was ever a reunion. I just found out today that there is one.
If anyone remembers my dad, I would really appreciate it if you could contact me. I love my Dad so much and I want him to have anything he wants right now, and I believe that would be the opportunity to speak with or be in contact with any of hes mates.
Again, his name is Reese Ellis Thomas, he is 75 years old and one of my best friends.

Comments: Hi all,

I'm looking for info on William Lee Richards, served on USS Antietam CV-36 sometime between July 1947 thru 1949. (His DD-214 is extremely difficult to read so I'm afraid I can't pin it more closely.) We remember him talking about being stationed in San Diego w/ the Antietam, and he mentioned something about being on board her when some movie was filmed. Ratings given are:
AS, AA, AR. Also,
Airman, AN, USN.

Odd thing here is that he never mentioned service in the Pacific, which is where the Antietam was stationed from late 45 thru early 48. His enlistment date is given as July 1947.

Would truly appreciate ANY info or suggestions on where to look for info. Also would love to contact anyone that may have known Bill.

THANKS!

Tracey

Comments: The Antietam returned to port at Yokuska in late December of 1951. The carrier fouled it's props in an anti submarine net as it enetered the harbor. We were in dry dock for about two weeks and celebrated the New Year in Yokuska.

I have photos of the ship in dry dock as well as a few hundred of my service with VA 728 in 1951 - 1952.
